I couldn't find another thread about this, sorry if I missed one.

I've been booked on AA's JFK-BDA flight on board a 762 in April for a while. I was supposed to be in seat 8A, in the business class cabin, with economy service. After checking on the reservation, I am now assigned a seat in the regular economy cabin, and the business class cabin is blocked off. When did American start selling this cabin as Business? They don't offer first class on the route, only business, but I suppose they are now selling the First and Business cabins as all Business.

I happen to also be flying down to Miami on the 762 flight next week, but that flight still shows me in 8A - business with economy service. I suppose because it's domestic they've continued selling it as economy?

Any info would be appreciated.

Best,
Will

I think all of AA's 762s are 3 classes of service... the "Business with economy" is like the 772s flying domestically... you can buy and economy ticket and get the business seat, just the perks of economy too... NY JFK to LAX/SFO are they only routes they sell 3 classes domestically iirc....

I was booked in the business cabin, and have now been bumped to economy as American has seemingly changed the way they sell this flight. I'm wondering when this happened - or for any info at all, and whether we should expect it domestically soon as well.

ahh, sorry... can't help there... dont'e know if their adjusting the a/c perhaps changing intereiors... MAH might be able to help with this one... he seems to be in the AA know quite often..

I know that they are 3 cabin aircraft, and in domestic service they are sold as 2. Historically Bermuda has also been sold as 2 cabins, with the "Business with economy" cabin just like the domestic 772 and 762 flights. I was booked in the business cabin, and have now been bumped to economy as American has seemingly changed the way they sell this flight. I'm wondering when this happened - or for any info at all, and whether we should expect it domestically soon as well.

Looks like starting the 28th the 767-200 flight starts again and it will be sold as 39/128. Thats a lot of premium seats, but they probably figure they can sell more than 9 ahead of time and they offer either upgrades to FF or the money based upgrades at the self check in machines.

We will have to keep a close on on this one to see how it goes!

This is very interesting. I fly this route every so often, and as a purser, I've not been given any information to suggest we are going to make the j-class cabin premium on this route. That would require staffing changes and a briefing detailing new service for 39 seats. Interesting... I'll have to see what I can find on my end.

Most likely, the 762 is being switched out for a 2 cabin 763.

Its being switched because AA has some major problems with Pilot Shortage and slew of canceled/substituted flights. JFK and MIA are the heaviest affected bases. ORD-FRA is heavily affected as well.

Plane Substitution in your case. BDA, NRT, CDG, BRU, BGI, STT are all affected and either cancelled/equipment changes for the date you are travelling because of a lack of pilots.

AA crap at it's best. 2 of my flights in March were completely cancelled.

So then why is in Sabre as 39/128 and not 30/192? Also, it is the same type rating so it should make any difference if its a 767-200 or a -300...same people are flying it.?

It is sold as 3-class. I know, I've been on it in J sold as J. Last fall.

And a quick check still shows Flight 299 and the return to MIA as 3-class in March.
