Edit: On reading the article in more detail I don't think the order is intended to reflect a ranking of the top 10 with AC the best. It's just an alphabetical listing of the carriers the Times considers in the top 10 (although SQ and Silverjet are out of alphabetical order!)

I'm very Happy to see United Airlines made it on that list.

I would expect that United would come out in the 5-10 rankings... they do look like they have a good business class product with those new seats.

How would Delta's 'BusinessElite' product compare? The new 77L with the lie-flat seat should be demonstrably better than the current product. Oh well, we'll see what happens next year.

I was disappointed to see that they didn't include pictures of all of them!
only 6 of them were there...I know what they look like but the average reader probably wouldn't

Yeah, the list is a bit loopy because I'm really surprised to see AC on top. I just flew their business class on the 777 from YYZ to LHR two weeks ago and it was good but not great. I've also flown Jet Airways business from LHR to DEL in Dec and it was a far better product overall.

Quelle Rubbish...
BA's new CW doesn't deserve #2, while the Old CW did. Problems - feels like an office cubicle (claustrophobic), privacy window can chop off your fingers, no head flaps. The seat assumes everyone is six feet tall as the headrest bulges at the wrong place for us shorties. Worst of all, since the unit is fabricated as a 2 seat unit - you can feel every move of your fellow passenger! It is not rigidly mounted on the cabin floor so the 'give' is annoying. The LCD screen is not as adjustable (you have to look up instead of gazing down) and a host of other 'improvements' leave me unimpressed.
As for VS, it is a high quality seat - love the leather, the active seat belt and the fact that you don't have to have the seat upright for takeoff and landing. VS is also kind enough to make your bed, but it isn't the most comfy to sleep on. The BIG problem with VS is the absolute lack of privacy, thanks to the herringbone configuration. You end up staring at 3 fellow travelers throughout the flight (and vice versa), especially in the nose section of a 747.

Quoting EmiratesUK (Reply 11): I think you wil find that AC is not top, but infact they are listing the "TOP 10" business class seats in no particular order.
The order is alphabetical and not ranking in order of best.
AC is no different to NZ or VS
As I said before - this is not in order of best etc... its simply in alphabetical order... nothing more... they are highlighting the top 10 not a ranking who is the best!

I have to disagree. If they weren't listing them in order why would they number them from 1 to 10? If they're not in sequence of quality they'd say so. I can't comment on the rankings since AC is the only one I've actually seen.

Isn't AC and 9W have the same seating manufacture? Herringbone configuration?

Is it just co-incidence that they are in alphabetical order then ?. Just look at the airlines involved. There is no way on earth that an airline like Eos would be better than the likes of SQ or VS !!.

It is definitely not a ranking with AC best. It's an alphabetical listing of what the Times considers the 10 best. I think they numbered them only because they referred to their "top 10". The probability that a ranking starting with the best would come out in alphabetical order is beyond the realm of believability.

Quoting 8herveg (Reply 18): How comes Eos Airlines is on the list? I thought they were a First Class only airline?
That's just marketing terminology. They say "First class service, business class prices", but it's officially sold as a business class product. Travel expense policies of most companies rarely permit their staff to book anything that's shown as F class in systems.

Really? The Eos seat looks like quite a step up from anything I've seen in any other Business Class cabin.

As they had already told us they were the top 10 there would be no need to number them unless they were rankings,
Also, they were not all in alphabetical order. 2 were out of sequence. I'm not a statistician but I think "beyond the realm of believability" is somewhat of an exaggeration.

Quoting CHANGYOU (Reply 4): What about CX, EK and MH? CX just launched their new jcl the same time as SQ isn't it?
= CX new J is absolute rubbish. EK's "bling bling" has limited appeal and comfort. MH has a great overall J product, and the best J crew ... but I do not think their new seats are that amazing.
Overall, a suprisingly good survey. And, only the most loyal AC cheerleaders would actually believe AC is "ranked" top. It is alphabetic placement rather than a rank ... and Silverjet and SQ misplaced is probably a clerical error.

I've just read the comments the Times printed with the article. A few of them clearly read the list as being rankings. Surely the Times would have corrected this impression if it was inaccurate.
They are rankingss; believe it!
