Imho it looks quite nice although they should have kept red as the main colour. Only thing I don´t like at first glance is the strange tail decoration.

That looks terribly generic.
Is anyone going to recognize the "gold-and-silver swirl representing the smoke of burning frankincense" and associate that with Oman?

Personally, I think their current colours really represent the country very well. Slightly "old fashioned" (although I believe the popular term these days is "retro") and friendly, very much like the country and its people.
While I certainly don't dislike the new colours, it's a shame we won't see their A330s wearing these colours:

Oman Air's incensed...and the knives are out
Traditional khanjar curved daggers are a frequent sight in Oman where they are carried in public as part of the national dress. But while the khanjar has featured on Oman Air's livery since the airline started operations, it's shortly to disappear in favour of a gold-and-silver swirl representing the smoke of burning Omani frankincense.
It's all part of a change of image newly unveiled in Muscat, timed to coincide with Oman Air's expansion into long-haul operations and the introduction of a fleet which will include Airbus A330s and, eventually, Boeing 787s.

Although not very fond of the title positions but that's what I call a re-styling. Very nice Oman Air!!

Seeing the real thing I don´t think its an improvement. Why the hell did they change the colours? It makes the aircraft look more dull. The same design would look better in red.

Why didn't they keep both red AND green? Well, it can be a lot worse, like all white fuselage with dark blue tail just like many carriers did. It seems as if many airlines are dropping yellow, orange and red colors.

Cultural sensitivities and all that put aside, this livery is ugly. Odd color palette, indistinguishable log and bland type face for the titles. I say they make the already painted aircraft a "special" livery and revert to the old scheme.

Quoting Oldeuropean (Reply 19): Reminds me on the typical kind of concepts from Lila Design. Does this is from them?
Oldeuropean,
No, this new Oman Air design is not of the hand of Lila Design. Though congratulations to the design company who did the Oman Air re-branding. Very good job!
