I was watching one of QF's Boeing 747-400's - VH-OJC push back from the Sydney's international terminal this afternoon (25/2/2008). It went out to runway 16R, powered up a bit, and then promptly aborted the takeoff, turning off the runway to the right at the next exit.

It returned to its original stand, but pulled up early and proceeded to run its engines at high power for a while, before shutting down completely.

What happened?

I noticed when it did finally depart, it certainly didn't seem to use full power.
