Reading in the press here in SA that King Abdullah of Jordan is in the country and arrived in "his" A340, landing in Port Elizabeth. I have done a search and cannot find anything on A-Net about his having a private A340. Can anyone help? Does he have one? What a/c did he arrive in? Also, is the runway at Port Elizabeth long enough to take an A340?

RJ operates an A340 on behalf of the Government, in RJ colours with Government titles.

Now that will look nice if it's also in full RJ colours!  yes

It's brand new!

Airbus sold one A346 last year to a VIP customer on 23rd April. This outstanding order is still shown on their O&D spreadsheet.

The A340 production list from http://www.airlinerlist.com shows c/n 924 as allocated to Royal Jordanian Airlines (even though Airbus doesn't list RJ as an A346 customer). So the evidence seems to fit.

Well, it does look plausible that the aircraft might end up with HM King Abdullah...but I seriously don't see any reason to procure such a flashy and high price-tagged aircraft when the existing one is perfectly fine!  confused

Apparently the current A340 is being put into service by RJ (as they could use another one) and the King is getting the new A346.

I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!
