Good Question!

Don't have an answear. However, if I may, I would like to say that if the gathering takes place can we start it early in the morning. (You are flying from SFO right) I might be busy attending a friend's baby shower and I also have to study for a midterm in my Aviation Law class which is promises to be tough one.

I'd very much like to meet everyone, provided that the time is right and I can jugle with my busy schedule. What did DeltaSFO say since he is the one that started this meeting.

Hope to meet everyone there  Smile

Regards,
Apollo Diaz

I'm planning on getting there at 9:45am or around that time. It all depends on the loads.

I think we should establish a meeting place? What would be the best place to meet in LAX so that people don't get lost? In front of Encounter?

DeltaSFO will not be attending the LAX gathering.  Sad

So, we are going to need a place to meet. How about at the end of the United Shuttle concourse, by the picture windows. Lets say at 10am. I'm ridding UA shuttle from SFO, and this is the only area that I really know. I may be late. I'm non-reving up, and I dont know about the weather in SFO or LAX.

As you know, the founder of the show (DeltaSFO) will not be able to make it, due to special circumstances.
I have offered to become the new "coordinator" for this event.

Time is running out. The following goals need to be clear and set by Friday evening so that everyone knows what do.

1. Establish meeting place. (If it's not raining)I suggest in front of the "Encounter" (the 60's theme building that you see on top) No one can miss that one.
(If It's raining) The United Shuttle terminal as ILUV767 has suggested.

2. Establish time. I suggest from 11:00 and cut off time 12:15. (If anyone has a pager and a cell, please offer your services so that the late people can get a hold of us.

3. Attractions! Planes that must be seen! At the Tom Bradley terminal. Air Pacific 747, Lan Chile A340 (If we get lucky) Delta 767-400 Common visitor at LAX.

4. Food Pick out a place were we can eat and watch the planes.

5. People attending Please sign up here to show that you will be able to make it on Sat.

Do you think I'm forgeting something else. I'm kind of a planning freak, so I like to have things well organized. Please offer your suggestions.

Hope to see you there!  Smile

Apollo Diaz

I think the meeting should be held earlier than 12:00. However, the777man wants it at 12:00. There is also chances of rain on Sat. However, It looks like there is not enough people interested in the meeting as I see nobody else signing up. I don't want to cancel it, but poeple need to sign up.

I understand that people want to see the best stuff at LAX. I'm sure Latinplane knows the airport fairly well, living in LA and all. Encounters is a really really cool place and has some good parts where it's easy to spot, however the best part of the airport is unviewable (is that a word) from the resturaunt. The dumb design made it so only the kitchen faces Tom Bradley. There is a part that faces terminal 2, which has some int'l planes such as Air Canada, KLM, and some int'l charters. You can't get into Tom Bradley without a ticket, so it's sort of hard to see some of those special sights, Air Pacific, Aerolineas Argentinas, Lan Chile (who I'm sure don't fly the 340 here yet).
Another unfortunate thing, it's supposed to rain saturday and sunday here. That's not too cool. From the United Shuttle terminal there isn't much interesting things to see besides other United Shuttle and United regular planes. I don't know if I'll be able to come or not, or if I can at all, seeing as I'd have to hitch a ride with one of my parents. Man I wish I had a license. Oh well. Sorry I don't have any positive advise to give.

I am free tomorrow....I can go. But it's supposed to rain, so that would make it hard to do any photography, much less any outdoor spotting.
Has the definite time/place been established?

Hi,

Due to the rain and other factors, I think we should cancel it and re-instate it at another date.

It's better to do it the right way or else everyone will get lost and the thing won't be fun.

I choose to cancel it. Let work on establishing it another time when more people can make it.

It's too late for me. Since my tickets are not refundable.

So I guess I will still go tomorrow to visit my friends down there.

ChaiWei,

I will be passing through LAX tomorrow at 10am, so if you want to meet, I will be in the UA Shuttle concourse. BTW guys, at the last gathering in SFO it was cloudy and raining...it did not slow us down.

To Everyone:

I regret to inform you that the LAX meeting has been officialy canceled. It's not just the rain, but I have been informed by some members that the whole thing was not organized properly as originaly there was much interest in it, but when people asked what was going on, nobody really knew anything about it...

Chiawei: I am really sorry we let you down. If I worked for an airline, I would do whatever to give you a buddy pass so that you could come by next time. I apoligize for the cancelation, but you already know the facts.
At least it's good to know that you will be busy visiting your friends from the area, which will not be a waist after all... One's again, I apologize for the outcome. It would have been a pleasure to meet you.

And all of you that were planning to attend. I apologize for the cancelation. I will start the new LAX airliners.net meeting as soon as possible. We will establish a new date for the meeting and have frequent status reports to update the attending members.

Thank you very much and have a great weekend.

Best regards,
Apollo Diaz

Chaiwei:

I'm not sure if what time I'm going to get there. I know that there will be weather problems tomorrow morning. Keep in mind that I'm flying non-rev.

Send me an email tonight, and we will talk more about it. My address is in my user profile.

David: So since you do not have to go to the LAX meeting, should we change times for your trip to SAN tomorrow? I'll probably call you about it.

Chaiwei: I'm sorry, but I will not be able to attend our little tiny get to gether tomorrow. See you next week at SFO!
