Hello all I read a few months ago that DL could get as many as 17 of the ex TW/AA birds. I've looked and can account for 12 in DL colors. Any DL employees out there know of any more showing up if so when and what tail#s? Thanks for the help.

That is odd. Considering DL does their own maintenance work and painting at the TOC, I doubt they would contract out to Dee Howard. Perhaps they do SOME contracting out for when the TOC is full, and they may need some other places. Or maybe those 2 got bored and went for a beer.

I seem to remember a while back seeing a DL MD11 at Dee Howard getting repainted. This was back in 1999 though.

EDIT: Found some pics

Dee Howard has done work for Delta in the past.

If I remember correctly it was when the original Business Elite seating was installed. (when DL went from 3 class configuartion to the two class inetnatinal configuartion)

Some of the mod work on the TWA757 are being farmed out. I think SAT is doing the interior mod. I beleive the paint for these planes is still being done at the TOC in ATL. DL is outsourcing about half of the current repaints. The 738 interior mods are being done inhouse at either ATL or SLC.

Any idea of how many are flying in the domestic F configuration right now and how many in BE configuration. I'm flying ATL-LAS twice in a month or so on the ex-TWA 757s, so was just a little curious (fortunately it looks like I have a decent shot at upgrades on both...I didn't mind the AA First Class on the ex-TWA 757s...

Ships 6801 thru 6810 are all flying right now, with 6809 being the only one with the new interior....I think....Ships 6811, 6812, 6814, and 6816 are in VCV. 6815 is in SAT and 6813 is still in Dallas.

Could you match those ship numbers with the regs? I have yet to find info about them.

Only N713TW and (from two days ago - Tue 26th) N710TW have operated the JFK-MAN route.
N713TW (#6809) has the new interior (see above) - does the arrival of N710TW on the route indicate that it also now has the new interior?

You forgot about N702TW, the first ex-TWA 757 to enter service with Delta.

Also, N711DZ should be N711ZX.

N705TW, N717TW, and N727TW are the three aircraft owned by Pegasus Aviation. I think they will be delivered soon.

The only remaining ex-TWA 757 would be N716TW. Since Delta has stated they will be acquring 17 ex-TWA 757s, Delta may or may not pick this one up.

I was kinda hoping DL would had taken all 27 ex-TWA 757s. Guess Delta doesn't need that many.
Regards.

Not all of them are available, unfortunately.

Here are some that have been leased to other carriers:
  • N701TW - leased to L-3 Communications
  • N708TW - now operating with Ethiopian Airlines as ET-ALY
  • N714P - now operating with Blue Panorama as EI-DKL
  • N715TW - now operating with Blue Panorama as EI-DNA
  • N719TW - now operating with Uzbekistan Airways as VP-BUI
  • N720TW - now operating with Ethiopian Airlines as ET-ALZ
  • N724TW - now operating with Uzbekistan Airways as VP-BUJ
  • N725TW - now operating with Shanghai Airlines as B-2850
  • N726TW - now operating with Uzbekistan Airways as VP-BUH

These are leased and could be getting winglets. ILFC and or Pegasus pick where DL has the winglets put on not Delta.
FYI DL is doing there own 737s.

yep.

Saw this bird in EGE this past Tuesday. Was kind of interesting seeing a DL 757 with that extra exit door just in back of the wing...
