From a local magazine's blog:

DFW will host an international announcement that will have a major impact on business and cultural exchange for Dallas and Fort Worth. The Airport’s special guests will receive a one-of-a-kind welcome from the Airport and community leaders. Due to the confidentiality of this announcement, no other details will be available prior to the event.”

In attendance will be mayors Tom Leppert and Mike Moncrief, plus various DFW Airport officials. Also promised: “There will be high-impact colorful visuals never before seen at DFW International Airport."

Aer Lingus starting 3 weekly service from Dublin?

EI have said they are interested in DFW but at the moment all their aircraft have been deployed for the summer. However the winter schedule has room for a 3 weekly service.

My guess is a carrier from China.

DFW is also wanting Etihad. However, i do not believe the high-level discussions between the two have taken place yet. But they will soon, so let's see what comes out of it.

Any other guesses? or insight?

I don't think a new Qantas flight qualifies as an "announcement that will have a major impact on business and cultural exchange for Dallas and Fort Worth," and I highly doubt that both mayors would show up for a press conference announcing a thrice weekly Aer Lingus service. This sound more like in the ballpark of Continental moving their hub and headquarters from Houston to Dallas, Boeing starting a second assembly line for the 787 in Dallas, AA will merge with UA and DL and establish a super-hub in DFW, Emirates to start a US-based airline with 20 A380s based at DFW, DFW to become a major spaceport with commercial flights to the moon, or something of a similar magnitude.

Reading the article makes it sound like it is tomorrow....

And maybe some in the media do already know what’s going down tomorrow morning at 8:30 in Terminal D. But I don’t.

Will be interesting to see and hear. Wonder how major DFW thinks.

Gotcha - looks like we'll have to speculate for the next 22 hours or so.

I'd think it had to be something along the lines of a major international carrier. For both mayors to show up, it would need to be pretty big (Moncrief and Leppert aren't going to stop by for the announcement of American Eagle service to Tampico, Mexico). Both of them were there for the KLM announcement, so I'm guessing (and hoping) that it's something along the lines of QF, EK, or CX. Or could it be the Air India service that has been rumored lately?

Is this speculation or info from an inside source? I agree that EK is doubtful given their presence in Houston, but I'm not sure about Finnair either. Still, with oneworld connections it could be a successful route, I guess.

I'm guessing for a one world carrier to start new non-stop (duh!) - let's go with Qantas owing to the recent Open Skies treaty wtih Oz.

I would think it'd have to be someone like a Qantas or a Chinese carrier. I agree with the above posters that KL, EI, Finnair would be great, but not deserving (perhaps) of such a big announcment.

If the mayors are attending it must be something big, something that will contribute to the economies of the cities in the DFW area, probably something with new jobs. Could it be cargo-related, rather than pax?

This has me intrigued.
