Just wondering how CX is doing with the new Y class seats... any reviews/features available?

They're certainly a bit "different"!

Our supplier has bitten a bit more off than what they can deliver, the reconfiguration is going a lot slower than expected. There is a shortage of new aircraft seats available on the market.

Come and think of it...There hasn't been much discussion on CX's new products here. All I read before were negative news whereby the JCL seats had to be redesigned. What happens after that? Are passengers still happy with the product? The ycl seats looks very modern to me.

And I reckon their new First Class cabin looks pretty damn fine too. Just doesn't really compare to the suites on the SQ A380's though. Mind you, maybe when CX starts flying double-decker-buses to London, things'll change.

Is CX the only airline that has economy seats with seat back not folding backwards?

I've been wanting to hear a trip report on the new CX F class for a while now. I love their service and want to see what improvements can be expected. Do they still have the luxurious caviar and smoked balik salmon in F?

Only one with reclining seats that don't fold backwards, yes. Some (FR for example) don't recline at all.

Yes, Caviar and fresh salmon is still served in F on Long Haul.

That's nice to hear! So rare an extravagance even in First class on many airlines. Will have to take a flight in F with them when the funds come to me.

I tried their new F seat at the HK asian aerospace expo in HK last year and thought it was very comfortable.VERY private and wide and the decor of the seats are very modern and stylish. Matched to the famous CX service and indulgent catering, they have a truly First class product. In contrast, I thought the new J class seat was dissappointing. As a regular CLUB World traveller, I thought the seat was narrower than BA's new offering although there was a neat little nook at the shoulders, it was kind of behind you so you didn't get the feel of the extra space. The cloth seat also seemed a bit too hard, although maybe thats just the display seat that they had out.

Which European destinations are served with new Y seats?

I'm planning to fly home in Europe this summer, and I can choose LHR, FRA, AMS, CDG or any other CX destination as transfer point, but I'm not sure which one of these are served with new Y product, I would really love to try it out...
(best fares were on 343 to LHR & AMS, and 744 to FRA & CDG)

IIRC only few 744 and 773 are fitted with new Y, but can't check which one of them go to Europe exactly...

Any info, thanks in advance  Smile

In Europe, only LHR (CX251) is served by the new product currently. You can check this by yourself. All 744 flights that are operated by the new product will be designated as 74A. For 77ER, it will be shown as 77A. Unfortunately, all 773ER are deployed on North American route.

As well as selected Taipei's and Manila's. Also on Ho Chi Minh and Cebu from April. But you never know, it may turn up as a sub for any short flight.
