I was leaving SDF today right as some sort of large Antonov cargo jet landed and then was surrounded by emergency vehicles. This was around 3:00 PM. Anyone know what was going on?

Meanwhile, somewhere 35,000 ft above your head...

Probably dropping off or picking up a large shipment. I know that one came into CLE years back to pick up some locally made equipment. We also see them here in the Bay Area from Moffett Field NASA base with satellite part, etc. The emergency vehicles may have just been airfield operation and a possible firetruck for any real emergency. Just my guess.

It just took off for Charleston AFB from SDF:
Polet Antonov 124's are actually fairly regular visitors at SDF, as we see them here at least 2-3 times a year it seems like. Unfortunately I didn't get to see it, but my brother did and said that it was parked right next to RWY 17L yesterday afternoon (it came into SDF at around 2:05PM yesterday).
As AS739X said, it was probably just carrying a large shipment, although I don't know what these aircraft usually carry into SDF. I doubt it had to do with UPS.
