Hi. I was just wondering the flight number ranges for each of DL and UA express carriers. For example I'm flying Comair this week and it seems they have the 5000s. Also if you know the flight numbers for any other airlines you can include them. Thanks.

Thanks, I wonder why UA doesn't have any 3000s or 4000s.

Looks like UA's 3000 and 4000 series flight numbers are codeshare flights.

Here are the Delta Connection flight number ranges:

SkyWest: DL1975-1999, DL3743-4149
Pinnacle: DL2000-2099
Big Sky: DL3563-3662
Atlantic Southeast: DL4150-4932
Comair: DL4933-5699
Freedom: DL5958-6212
Chautauqua: DL6213-6432
Shuttle America: DL6433-6512
ExpressJet: DL7650-7829
Air Midwest: DL9843-9849
American Eagle: DL5700-5844

The full list of all the flight number ranges are in the downloadable PDF timetables from the airlines' web sites.

Delta Connection Flight Ranges as of their Feb. 1 timetable:

1975-1999 - SkyWest
2000-2099 - Pinnacle
3563-3662 - Big Sky
3743-4149 - SkyWest
4150-4932 - ASA
4933-5699 - Comair
5958-6212 - Freedom
6213-6432 - Chautauqua
6433-6512 - Shuttle America
7650-7829 - ExpressJet
9843-9849 - Air Midwest

Interesting that Air Midwest is listed as a DL Connection partner ... some EAS connections maybe?
And yes, SkyWest has two separate number ranges. That's not an error.

--------------

United Express Flight Ranges as of March 2008

5200-5279 - ExpressJet
5280-5404 - GoJet
5405-6849 - SkyWest
6850-6999 - Colgan Air
7000-7499 - Mesa
7500-7774 - Shuttle America
7775-7874 - Chautauqua
7875-8099 - Trans States

--------------

And, for good measure, since someone might ask and I have time on my hands:

US Airways Express - found by having to search the site, not readily found by any links, so may not be up-to-date:

2200-2599 - PSA
2600-2699 - Mesa
3000-3099 - Chautauqua
3200-3499 - Republic
3500-3574 - Trans States
3575-4099 - Air Wisconsin
4100-4649 - Piedmont
4650-4749 - Air Midwest
4800-4999 - Colgan Air

Continental Express/Connection - From most recent timetable

1200-1299 - ExpressJet
2000-3159 - ExpressJet
3180-3181 - Cape Air
3200-3489 - Colgan Air
4916-4919 - ExpressJet
5500-5789 - Chautauqua
5800-5989 - Chautauqua
8635-8804 - CommutAir
9120-9310 - Gulfstream
9311-9400 - Cape Air

There are a few other fragment number ranges for CO ... they have by far the worst organized system of flight numbers. It's horrible.

Northwest Airlink - from most recent timetable

1800-2099 - Compass
2700-2799 - Mesaba
2800-2999 - Pinnacle
3000-3699 - Mesaba
3700-3799 - Pinnacle
4700-4799 - Pinnacle
5600-5996 - Pinnacle

American Eagle/Connection

3000-5199 - Eagle
5280-5389 - Chautauqua
5390-5599 - Trans States

I'd take the awe of understanding over the awe of ignorance any day.

Small correction. Republic Airlines operates flights 3100 to 3499. The 3100 and 3200 series are, for the most part, solely Embraer 175 flights. The 3300 and 3400 numbers are, for the most part, Embraer 170 flight numbers. Their are a few exceptions.

Yes the 1975-1999 Skywest flight numbers are all our flights based out of ATL and CVG.

And I wonder why Delta doesn't list the second group of Skywest flight numbers from 3663-4149. Cause we have flight numbers that go that low.

Oh and Big Sky isn't a Delta Connection carrier anymore. They stopped the first week of Jan.

Don't know why they are still listing them in there timetables.

I had to dig to find the US ranges ... they weren't printed on the timetable or anywhere else that was readily linked to anything. Which is weird.

Delta's timetable is dated for February, so probably at the time they were compiling it for publication, Big Sky may not have been officially finished yet. Wonder if it will be updated with their next timetable.

Makes me yearn for the days when it was a lot easier to tell which Delta Connection carrier you were using. I remember when it was 3000-3999 for SkyWest, 4000-4999 for ASA, and 5000-5999 for Comair. Weren't the 6000-6999 previously used by ACA/Atlantic Coast Jet and before that Business Express?

The Air Midwest flight numbers are odd to me, since typically 9XXX flight numbers are used for charters and repositioning flights.

IIRC the flight numbers for DL Connection back in the early to mid-'90s was 3000-3999 for Comair, 4000-4999 for Business Express, 5000-5999 for SkyWest and 7000-7999 for ASA. ACJet/Atlantic Coast didn't start until 2000, and you're correct, the numbers were in the 6000s. They replaced Trans States, who took over the Business Express routes from JFK in 1998, when AA bought Business Express.

The Air Midwest Delta flight numbers are a there because ZV was initially providing the Delta JFK T-prop service until Freedom could get their Dashes up and running.

To my knowledge the only "real" codeshares Air Midwest has is US and YX.

Looking at flights in the 13xx series can be interesting at times.

They also use series like 8xx for Pacific and 9xx for Atlantic.

In most situations there is a generic paint scheme which can be used if an aircraft has gone out of service. These aircraft are usually painted white or with the house colors of the airline. However depending on the contract it could be a painted scheme on a route. This happened occasionally with Horizon flying Frontier painted CRJ7's when they had the contract, and some images can be found in the database of these aircraft in the non-Frontier cities.

I think that can be broken down more by aircraft type (the ranges may not be exactly right; I've figured this out by trial and error):

3000-3299: Saab
3300-3399: Saab and CR7
3400-3699: CR7
3700-4899: ERJ
4900-5199: ATR
