Hey there has been a lot of talk about the comercial theme songs for airlines but ive always been wondering what are the names of the songs that they play when you are boarding the plane while putting stuff in overhead compartments and in between anouncments.

I love the airline to death, but Delta's never-ending, constantly-looping, new-age garbage boarding song pretty much makes me want to shoot myself.

EVA Air plays the most beautiful music during boarding, taxiing and takeoff, as well as during approach and deplaning. It's a medley of traditional Taiwanese and Chinese folk music that always makes me feel like flying when I hear it. I've been trying to find a recording of it short of sneaking a tape recorder aboard the next time I'm flying with EVA Air.

At airtran, you can often be entertained by Leaving on a Jetplane sang by the captain, or the harmonica of one of our more infamaous aviators

What kind of a/c was it? We did that on Ship 102, The Spirit of Delta, B-767-232, just a couple of weeks ago and were rather disappointed with the sound quality. No bass whatsoever....

I hear the B-777 and A319/320 are much better.

Most charter airlines play fairly recent stuff. Like in 1999 when I flew NCL-TFS on FUA 734, Celine Dion was playing. The time I flew AMM NCL-TFS Boyzone were on.

Austrian used to have their own version of "we are sailing" something like this:

you are flying
you are flying
Austrian Airlines welcomes you....

kind of nice to me...

American's boarding music is really very nice -- it's sort of classical with a contemporary flare! And it is usually shown with video of beautiful outdoor scenes (i.e., mountains, birds, streams, lakes, etc.)

Thai also plays sound tracks from different films/movies during take-off landing etc. (at least thy did in 1999, so i heard the Titanic song during a go-around etc.)
Like most other airlines, they play relaxing songs.

I think TAP plays local music from Portugal

When I flew with El-Al about 8 years ago I remember they used to have a pretty cheesy song "Latus El-Al" (which in Hebrew means "Fly El-Al), I don't know if they still have that song.
