Hello to all of you,

Next week I am due to fly from SXM to BRU. I'll be transiting through JFK terminal 8.
I'm due to arrive from SXM with AA at 6.05pm and my next flight (JetAirways) to BRU
is at 9.00pm. Is that enough time knowing that I'll have to clear the U.S immigration
process and that I have to check-in again to BRU (I fly stand-by) ??
I would like to know if 2h55' is enough to complete all of this from your experience ?

Your opinions are welcome !!

In January I came in from POS (T3) and had to connect thru to YYZ -same terminal. Its not the intransit time that kills you but the Customs & Immigration wait. We had to plead with one of the agents to assign us a favourable line so we can get through on time - but to no avail, we missed our flight. So if you want to make it, make sure and catch the eye of one of the Customs people (who looks after telling you which line to go to), and let them know you are going to BRU on stand-by. Who knows maybe T8 has a more efficient Customs processing area. Have a great flight!

It's not hard to have a more efficient arrivals process than T3 at JFK, and T8 is new so I'd assume that it should run pretty quickly.

I'd say that 2:55 is more than enough time.

Assuming the inbound from SXM is on time, I doubt you'll have a problem. Three hours should be more than enough time to connect, especially since you're going between flights within the same terminal - especially Terminal 8, which is (as mentioned) the newest and nicest at the airport.

Newest perhaps, I wouldn't necessarily say the nicest....

I suppose its debatable between T8 and T4 and T7, but in my personal experience, I'd say the new T8 - which is the newest and most modern terminal at the airport right now (until T6 opens later this year) - is definitely the nicest terminal at JFK.
