Portuguese tour operator Clube Viajar announced today charter flights to Miami and Orlando, from, I presume, Lisbon. Miami flights operate Fridays 18JUL08 through 26SEP08. Orlando operates Saturdays 19JUL08 through 25SEP08.

Anybody know who will be operating the flights?

I do not know but I am interested too. I am guessing Air Plus Comet.

This is really sad for us living here. It's just anot indication of how strong the Euro really is against the Dollar. It's probably cheaper for the Portuguese to visit Disney World than to visit Euro Disney.

Why is it sad?

Its great we're seeing increased tourist arrivals and the money they bring. In the 2nd half of '07 European arrivals were up 16%. Helps with the US current account deficit while maintaining strenght in lots of industries.

Come, relax, spend and have a good time!  veryhappy

I don't know. All bookings will be handled by the tour company selling vacation packages to Florida/the Caribbean. I don't know if they offer vacation packages to Portugal from other destinations.

That's what I though at first but then I remembered their sole A330-200 is leased out to Novair at the current moment.

If indeed Air (Plus) Comet operate the flight, It would be nice to see one of their A310's or A340's here at MCO!

Three flights a week in Pan Am's August 1963 timetable. It was PA's only transatlantic service from MIA then.

Well, Brazil is not nearly as popular of a destination in the Summer as it is in the Winter months. Between July and September it's "Winter" down there and quite rainy. Even TP often moves some of its capacity from Brazil to EWR, over those months. It's not unusual to see the A340 at EWR during the Summer months.

I could not agree more. Any idea which terminal they will use?

To note, there is no confirmation with regards to whether they are going to fly to SFB or MCO. I put MCO in the title, but I wasn't even thinking with regards to that.

Considering its going to be a charter service, I would say Airside 1 in Terminal A. Thats where Aer Lingus, Air Transat, and Martinair all arrive/depart. Isn't Airside 4 for the Scheduled "major" European carriers (VS, BA, LH)?
