Cathay Pacific's 2007 Profit Up 72 Percent

Cathay Pacific just announced their profit for 2007. It increase by 72 percent over 2006. Beat analysis expectation of 42% by a huge margin!

Turn over increase to HKD 75358 million (USD 9.66 billion) (Increase 24%)
Profit to sharesholders increase to HKD 7023 million (USD 926 million) (Increase 72%)
Profit Margin of 11.1%

This follows a trend of all the airlines that has announced their 2007 results so far!

This is a good result for the company, should result in about 1.5 months extra salary for staff as a profit share (if earning under 12,000 a month)

it really is a good result, extremely happy with it. i found it a pleasant surprise that management decided to give us a discretionary extra bonus to our profit share.

there's a formula to calculate CX profit share. It was calculated that 16.5 days + (HK$6000 or half months salary whichever is lower). However because of the exceptional performance, the management decided to increase it to 1 months salary + the $6000/half salary just for this year.
