I know with some of the bigger widebodies that land at this airport, they have to come in pretty close to make the runway and have enough space to stop, like this KLM 747.
Just wondering, has anything every happened like damange wise or almost happened to like the area around it, (ie the fence, or cars/ppl around it) or has SXM never had an incident?

with 7700 feet of runway SXM can handle most Airlines jet...because they are almost empty on fuel... taking off is another story... B747 need to put 1-2 hours worth of fuel and go to alternate airport... FDF, PTP, AUA, BON and than takeoff to Europe... Only AF343 can make it back SXM-CDG on a regular basis... may be some other charter using A332 and B767 can go back to Europe on that short runway... pretty spectacular place to be to watch planes...
I heard that a C-5 landed there few yr back to deliver something and they back it up to the fence for the C5 to takeoff

A c5 would not need that much takeoff space to be backed up to the fence, especially empty. In the 80's when the Lockheed SkunkWorks project was ongoing at BUR, they had loaded c5's carrying pieces of the stealth to PMD for assembly, and using no more than half of the 6200' runway on takeoff.

Quoting YULYMX (Reply 3): True, but there is a hill-mountain in SXM to climb over...
They dont climb over that. All aircraft execute a right turn shortly after departure.

Does anyone know where I can find Corsair schedule information. I will be in SXM on Tuesday 29 April and was wondering if Corsai flies into SXM daily. Since it is a charter, their schedules are not in the OAG.

No nonstop to Europe with an A332, B767 or even B777. Not that they can"t do it, but because of the restrictions (as twin) in case of an engine failure on T.O
