Due to diversions over the weekend, very probable KLM 777-300 coming into YYZ today as KL691
They need the extra capacity for stranded and denied pax over the weekend.

on a side note AF 777-200 was here too from YUL diversion. Left this morning continuing to YUL as AF346

B773ER PH-BVA is indeed on the way to YYZ as we speak. KLM had actually a pair of cancelled flights over the weekend because of diversions. KL692/08MAR YYZ AMS was cancelled because the aircraft ended up in DTW, and consequently KLM also cancelled KL695/09MAR AMS YYZ to use the diverted aircraft of the cancelled KL692 for the return service KL696. As such, today's KL691/692 has been upgauged to B77W and KL691 is on the way with 307 passengers on board. The return flight should be quite full.

Maybe a bit OT, but is AC making adjustments post-storm? I saw news reports of hundreds of passengers standed in YUL and YOW, and the Red Cross even supplying cots for passengers stranded at YOW over the weekend. Will AC be adding any extra flights or upgrading existing flights to larger aircraft? I'm not really sure how much flexibility they have to deal with such a large disturbance.

A certain amount of upgauging took place on Rapidair to help clear the backlog but with aircraft heavily commited because of the start of March break, it's not easy. By the way, why doesn't anybody ask this question about Westjet. They are pretty big now, and looking at the GTAA board on the weekend, they had a lot of flights running late and several cancellations in YOW and YUL.

For what it's worth, I just don't find Westjet's operations all that interesting. I was mainly hoping that YOW might see some larger aircraft flying in on the Rapidair runs.

My son came home from YVR via YYC on Westjet yesterday, and I went to pick him up. Notwithstanding the multiple accidents on the way to/from the airport (one car had its nose hanging over an overpass, came within inches of going over), the airport itself was a total zoo. His flight arrived an hour late, but mostly because they sat there waiting for a gate to become available.

I'm glad I wasn't traveling.

AF 777-200 was here too from YUL diversion

Yeah, saw it at YYZ yesterday. Also saw KLM MD-11 at YYZ as well. Both must have diverted from YUL. It was nice to see both however there was no way I can get good pictures of them due to behind BAX building

There is still a tendency to single out AC in Canadian media. AC has huge daily operations and with the massive impact on YYZ and YUL their main hub and a very important secondary hub of course there would be disruption. Having said that, looking at YYZ departures and arrivals boards over weekend AC still managed to get vast majority of flights to intl, southern and sun destinations out, some late, but not too bad. Look at Westjet, Transat, Sunwing, CanJet and others. Admittedly they are tiny compared to AC but many were operating their charters to sun destinations 12-20 hours late, which would have severely impacted both outbound and returning pax.

of course the Globe and Star today had reports complaining about AC and giving pax a soapbox to complain about their perceptions of how badly AC has managed this major storm.

It was a major weather event the media does not need to repeat the theme every time, implying that AC specifically was somehow caught off guard or not doing its best to accommodate pax in a very difficult situation. From the reports i read you would assume the other airlines noted above operated normal schedules because no report bothered to mention the Sunwing charters to Punta Cana leaving/returning a day late or Transat to FLA leaving 14 hours late etc etc etc.

I am also not blaming those airlines, but it's so frustrating when media likes to tee up on AC alone after a major weather event. In my estimation having followed their schedule over last days they've done pretty well.

Bottom line is it seems to me media has a tendency to unfairly report on airlines after a major weather event. I realzie there have been instances of terrible management but I don't think this is one.
