Here are some changes involving the introduction of the new SIN-AMS-ORD flight as of august 1st, which were confirmed to me today during a visit to SQ's operational departments:

- the new SIN-AMS-ORD (SQ036) flight will replace the SIN-AMS-MAN flight (SQ328), previously operated by B747-400. Operating days ex SIN are mon/wed/fri;

- AMS will see daily SQ USA-bound flights, as on the other days (tue/thu/sat/sun) the airline operates SIN-AMS-EWR;

- SQ328 will subsequently be routed through BRU as SIN-BRU-MAN on days mon/wed/fri;

- BRU will not be linked anymore to SQ's daily flight to ZRH. SQ346 SIN-ZRH will now end in ZRH on the days it previously continued into BRU, and still continue to MAD on mon/wed and MAN on sun;

As you see, the netto effect of the new service is a capacity reduction to AMS (3 B747s replaced by 3 B777s), non-stop fligts to BRU for the first time, and a capacity increase to ZRH, as the aircraft doesn't have to be shared with BRU anymore.

There will be NO SQ-service to MUC available, also not on the days SIN-AMS-ORD is not operating. Service to ORD will be limited to 3 weekly flights.

The SQ-flights wouldn't be compatible with the new LH service anyway: there would be duplication of flights in one direction at least.

SQ will also not return to VIE with its own equipment, as it was rumoured to do with the extra capacity available at ZRH.

Also, with regard to another post here, service to CPH will not be changed into B777 during the summer schedule.

May I know when will be the date summer schedule 2001 available online (SQ website)?

Are there any changes on flight between SIN and Australia and KUL?

Hope to get the info from you. Thanks.

What do you mean with the new LHR service?

New LH service, not LHR service (as clearly written on the post). LH is the carrier code for Lufthansa German Airlines.

Sorry, a little correction:
HB- is the Swiss rego, HB-IWC is an MD-11 of Swissair.

But HB-IWC lives in Greece, i've just seen...

If they could only start the service to Chicago sooner, say in May, I would thank them forever. Anyway I checked the Amadeus.net and it looked like the flight will be operated using the 777 with two-class configuration, that means no First Class.

You mean there are no more flights to Munich(MUC)?

I mean that MUC-SIN will served by thrice weekly LH-operated A340-300 only.

I was just replying to rumours as if SQ would operate a SIN-MUC flight on the other 4 days, which won't be the case.

I think it's still possible for SQ to fly to SIN-MUC-ORD but perhaps later in the year. It makes some sense to start with just three weekly flights to build traffic. I'm suprised that they will only fly the two-class configured 777. A SIN-MUC-ORD would make a lot of sense since it would connect the LH and SQ hubs of MUC and SIN and the the UA hub of ORD. Currently there's only one flight MUC-ORD but four FRA-ORD so a second MUC-ORD would also make a lot of sense. I think CPH and SFO will get 777s later in the year or perhaps in 2002. SQ's SIN-SEL-YVR will be switched to a 777 starting 1Sep01. The777Man

SIN-MUC-ORD will not happen because Lufthansa and United Airlines are worried to loose passengers on their transatlantic routes. Lufthansa is also worried that they will not have success on the new thrice weekly MUC-SIN flight. I think LH and Singapore Airlines will make the route daily if LH has success with it. If the flight will be successful im sure they will do it on MUC-SIN like Varig and LH on the GRU-GIG route (4x RG and 3x LH)

SQ might, in the future make the MUC-SIN flight indeed complete (to daily), but that will for sure not be in combination with the MUC-ORD extension, as schedule wise it is not possible to design a pattern where there is no duplication of flight. e.g. where there is one flight a day in both directions MUC-SIN and SIN-MUC.

Try to calculate it, and you will see that, if you ad a MUC-ORD extension of the flight, you'll always end up with duplication with the LH-operated flightt on either the MUC-SIN or SIN-MUC leg.

Furthermore, please note that the remark of the 2-class operation didn't come from me. It was not confirmed to me by SQ's operational guys, I am working with.

The availability in reservations systems show only J C Y and lower booking classes and not P or F. This is surprising but maybe they will change this soon ?? The777Man

Where did you get the info about Singapore-Brussels going non-stop? Because according to their web site and other travel sites, it is showing up as via Zurich- uptil 2002.
Would be nice to have them flying non-stop on the route though.

As I stated in my first message, the information was given to me when I visited the SIA Operational Departments last week. I will start a project with them as an external consultant soon, so whilst talking about that, I informed about upcoming changes. The changes they told me about were posted in my original thread here.

Btw, the SIN-BRU-MAN flight is already programmed. I could find it, for instance, on the Yahoo flight-search engine.

i know that the MUC-SIN flight (3x a week) is just being transferred from FRA but as far as i know they only go three times a week because they don´t have sufficient aircraft available.
however, lufthansa has about 8-9 a-32x aircraft and an a-340 grounded because off a lack of cockpit crews!!!!!!
thus many 737s are currently being pulled on quite a few a-32x routes.
does anyone has a clue on how many a-340s will be based in muc during the coming summer season? i know there will be a daily flight to ewr, ord, and hkg, sin and gru will each receive three flights a week. looks like three to four a-340s. i´m just curious because lufthansa intends to have 12 long-haul aircraft based in muc during the 2002 summer period, and that should exclude the 744s because they aren´t based in muc (fra-sfo-muc, muc-sfo-fra, should be the same with the lax services).

I don't know where you got this information (could you please provide us with your source), but it is absolutely incorrect at this time.

SIA has no such plans as to increase service to ORD to daily in the upcoming winterseason. The flight will remain 3 times weekly for at least 2 seasons.

So, if you could please come up with your sources regarding this topic, as we both apparantly have quite different information...

well, i´ve got the aero international issue lying in front of me, the issue (jan 2001) in which there was this small article about SQ introducing the SIN-MUC-ORD flight three times a week, on a 777. that´s what it said.
in the latest issue, feb 2001, there was absolutely no hint at this flight anymore and certainly not a word about SQ planning to increase to daily frequencies.
although i like this magazine very much because of its excellent articles, the news section is often not entirely uptodate and some minor articles are only based on rumours which could have been the case with that one.
however, i can´t say if that article was based on facts and SQ changed plans afterwards. today it seems that this service is not gonna happen.

best wishes
daniel
