Tiger Air OZ & Sale Booking Classes

have been looking at Tiger site & particularly OOL/MEL where they also compete with JQ & DJ.

When TT puts a sale fare of say $49.95 out, (often lately short booking period, like a day or 4 days) there seems to be seats on almost evry flight, but very few on each flight, meaning if u put in 1 person, u can find the cheapest, but put in 4 & the next level appears which might only be $10 or $20 more.

This seems a clever way to get people to commit as even if the rock bottom fare isn't available, an extra $10-$20 isn't a big increment & therefore won't break the bank (in most cases u would think).

There is no comparison with DJ fares & still markedly cheaper than JQ fares.

OK TT only allow 15kgs checkd, whereas DJ allow 20kgs, but cheapest JQ fare only allows 10kg crry on & no checked bags !!!

I've flown with Tiger a few times, and this has never happened to me.
Choose the flight you want at the listed price, choose number of pax, and off you go.
It seems odd that it's happening to you.

no what am getting at is, very clever way of loading sale fares, with smlal incremental jumps.

Often when looking at sale fares on other carriers, there's a huge increment betwen sale fare & next level.

So, eg. instead of putting 20 seats on sale fares of only AUD$49.95 OOL/MEL they seem to put say 4 at $49.95, 4 at $59.95, 4 at $69.95, 4 at $79.95 & 4 at $89.95. By doing this across a majority of flights, they get people to spend a little more than the sale fare, but everyones happy, Tiger as they sell more seats at higher than sale fare & pax as they do actually get sale fares or slightly higher with lot of choice of flights.

Tiger really seem to have the web sales handling down pat, much better than others.

How many times have u got an email from XYZ Air about some great sale $50 from A to B only to find out there weren't any seats anywhere around the date u wanted, or on a red eye flight or there were 3 seats at $50 which went in the 1st 5 seconds on the sale & the next price is $150.
