DXB Airport Is Finally CAT III A Certified!

Say goodbye to diversions... especially for Emirates as Dubai International Airport is now CAT III A Certified..... Finalllyyyyy... The diversions have been a headache for Emirates and all other airlines using the airport during Fog Approach... and we can have some nasty fog in our region.... just yesterday we had one of the biggest car accidents in the history of the region due to fog involving 200 cars.... 12 dead, 140 injured!

Hmmmm, i could have swore that the whole CAT IIIa b and c system was gone....

Isn't it just CAT I II and III now????

Not sure about that, but DXB now will save soooo much time and the airlines soooo much money.

The amount of diversions that we have due to Fog was astounding. This was over due

Well, you have CAT I, II and III, but its still CAT IIIa and IIIb and IIIc! Some aircrafts arent certified for CAT IIIb, so they can only fly CAT IIIa Wink

Cat IIIa RVR required 200m
Cat IIIb RVR required 75m
Cat IIIc RVR - nil (but generally not used as the aircraft can't find their way off the runway)

True, but I haven't seen a single CAT IIIc runway in Europe yet Smile

The title of the thread should be changed to re-certified. DXB used to be CAT IIIa in the past. It lost that certification when all the building work began
