DL: ATL-REC This Fall?

I picked up a copy of Aviao Revue today (18/03) and there was a short article regarding Delta and Recife, Brazil. The magazine says Delta is likely to begin twice weekly service this fall. This is great news but is it based more/less on the rumor mill that we've been reading and hearing for sometime now regarding the northeast and the USA?

Also, does Delta have a partner airline in Brazil now?

This is great news, if true. They don't have an official SkyTeam partner right now, but the closest to South America would be Copa Airlines which is a SkyTeam associate. All this expansion is exciting, I can't wait to see what else DL has up its sleeve. Does anyone else know of any realistic plans they have? Thanks.

I remember reading something stating that they have an interline agreement with VRG.

What equipment would they use?

Not being that familiar with Brazil... is REC within 752 range?

That is by far the worst aviation magazine, most specially when they speak tech about a plane.
In fact they are one of the responsible of feeding the brazilian aviation gossip industry.
The best use to it is to clean dog crap.

Sorry for the language,

Agree, but the rumor is becoming stronger. Don't know if for this fall, easy to see the new service for December.

There are two unused USA-Brazil frequencies, that DL can apply for to fly such a route. Of course, if DL applies, AA and possibly others will apply for the same frequencies. Though DL would likely win out over AA, but maybe not over CO.

I'm very much a novice with commercial aviation, an amateur so forgive my elementary comments and questions from time to time. I do enjoy reading the posts from you professionals but sometimes those of us who are in here for more/less hobby-sake do like to chime in from time to time.

Having said that, why is Aviacao Revue such a horrible magazine? Is Flap any different or say Aviacao? Is Aviacao Revue much like a tabloid in this industry? I did think it odd that they ran with the Delta story when I had not seen anything in here. Normally, airliners.net has the scoop before anyone else.

And i don't think CO will apply for a twice weekly service to REC. Make more sense DL doing this. Also, as a side note, i recall that a 767 with DOT/FAA staff has visited REC recently. I'm not sure about the reasons.

Considering the speed of information, for sure anyone on a forum like A.Net and Brazilian ones (Contato Radar for example) will have a lot more information and mainly, before a monthly magazine go to the newsstand. Also, while in a forum information is discussed and rumors can become true or not, a magazine always have a deadline to publish something, rumor or not.
This is the price of internet, we have prompt information all times !

Are these frequences only to REC or to any Brazillian airport?

Depending on both configuration and engines, the 752 is capable to fly up to 3900 nm comfortably and ATL lies 3766 nm** from REC.
During the 90s, LADECO from Chile flew MIA-SCL [3578nm**] with 757 flight equipment.
For the meantime, CO operates several low-density routes to Europe from EWR with 757s. For instance: EWR-BCN [3344nm**].
