I'm looking for some expert advise from anyone out there in the know.
I recently booked a RT flight on CO in business/first from EWR to BCN. CO has a sale going on, $999 OW in B/F so I jumped all over it. The fare class is 'R'.
I wish to get credit for this flight on my Delta skymiles account, however in looking at Delta's Medallion Qualification Miles calculation page (below is a copy of it) fare class R for Continental does not appear anywhere on the chart. I cant imagine not getting MQM credit for this 'R' fare. Can anyone with knowledge of this procedure help me out? It doesnt make sense that I can spend half the money on a discounted economy ticket and get MQM credit but not on a R first/business fare. Thank you in advance for the help.
Continental
Cabin Fare Class MQM Formula
500-mile minimum Total MQM Earned
First or Business A, C, J, Z, D 500 x 1.5 750
Coach/Economy Y, H 500 x 1.5 750
Coach/Economy (discounted) K, N, B, V, U, O, M 500 x 1 500
Coach/Economy (deeply-discounted) Q, I, S, W, T, X, L 500 x 0.5 250
Note: All other classes of service do not accrue mileage. This chart applies only when traveling on Continental Airlines-coded flights operated by SkyTeam partners.

I will say that I often fly on NWA First class to FLL or MIA or LAX. And I fly in "P" class and I get the MQM miles as well as the regular miles credited to my DL FF. And "P" class is not listed as one of the classes for MQM status. CO's "R" class could be the same as "P" in NWA and "J" on DL. Every airline has their own class lettering type, which is very hard for a travel agent to figure out which is the lowest fare.
If you not sure you can call DL FF member number and they could tell you for sure.

I thought about calling DL and unfortunately I've been given bad information before so I'm just trying to gather up as much intell as I can on the topic. However, thanks for replying. It leads me to believe that I must get some sort of MQM credit.

I fly SkyTeam partners very frequently in business/first and always get 1.5 Delta MQM credit. It may take a couple of weeks to see the mileage credit on your account and, depending on which carrier you fly, you may have to fax a copy of your ticket and boarding pass to Delta to receive credit. As a general rule never throw away tickets/boarding passes until you receive your mileage credit.
