Thanks for the help,

just was looking at the Heathrow website, it states that SQ317 left at 11:30am, and was scheduled to leave at 11:00am!

"11:00 SQ317 SINGAPORE AIRBORNE 1130 Terminal three"

are we missing something?

?? That's really not too bad by LHR standards.

It was delayed, so what? Happens everyday at LHR and other airports!

I think you will find that the time will change on Sunday due to Summer Time beginning.

Sorry, I was made aware that my information was in error.

From 30 March 2008:

The Singapore Airlines A380 flies daily into London Heathrow arriving at 0555 as SQ0322.

It leaves as SQ0317 at 1155.

11.00 is the pushback time, at any major airport, pushback, and taxiing to the active runway will add at least 15 minutes.
I've experienced pushback - takeoff at nearer an hour at LGW, and the site of the queue for takeoff when I landed at JFK last year would probably make that seem short.

I'm currently in Singapore, leaving Sunday morning @ 0825 on JAL. Does anyone know if the JAL gates are anywhere near where I could see the 380 land @ 0740? Obviously, it will be very near boarding time for me, but I'm hoping to get a glance and maybe a picture.

If you JAL flight is parked at the following gates : C1, C20, C22, C23, C24, C25 or C26, you might be able to see it rolling out after landing on runway 02L. Today (04 Apr), SQ317 landed at 0733hrs in absolutely stunning light - ahead of its scheduled arrival at 0740hrs.

Wishing you good luck . . .

When I flew SQ1, we were 1 hour late leaving SFO, but made it into SIN by our scheduled arrival time, and that even included SQ allowing transiting passengers off the plane at HKG  Smile

Fastest flight I ever was - HKG-SFO, SQ2. Flight was supposed to leave at 22:55, left at 00:05. with 337 kph wind in backs, B744 flew at 1337kph (that number was stated on a IFE screen) and arrived at 16:55, 1hr55min AHEAD of scheduled time (18:50). We were waiting for 25mins for gate to become available, because we arrived way too early.

Talk about good wind effect... 1hr40min delay, arrived almost 2hrs earlier. I could not believe that a plane cane make up for over 3hrs...on a 13hr flight.

Date was June 9th, 2005 - and I'll remember it for remainder of my flight days. Flew in Y, since no J seats were available, I got a whole middle row in Y and loved every minute...

There's no better way to travel than fly (shameless rip of LH's slogan ;-)

Yes, it often lands on 02L since this is the runway closest to Terminal 3. But note that of late, the winds are quite changeable and the runway might just change to 20. In which case, it will likely land on 20R. From the same gates mentioned and if the A380 lands on 20R, you will see it touching down and probably going by with its nose wheel off the runway.

Either way, keep a lookout. My suggestion is for you to check the arrival time of flight SQ317 before you even leave to go to the airport. You could call 18005424422 (the automated enquiry line) . . . as soon as the automated voice message begins, key in the following: 317#

Aviasian,

You are the man!!

We were going out of C-20, and just like you said - I saw it come in and roll out, and then taxi by our gate headed towards B-4. The gate agents told me I could leave my gate, and go down to B-4 and get a closer look - what a sight. I have a few crappy pics, and I'll post them later.

Thanks again!!!
