3K To Drop Phuket, Tiger To Drop Krabi? (by 6thfreedom Feb 4 2008 in Civil Aviation)

I started the thread 6 ago, but can't revive it...

Jetstar Asia dropping Phuket and launching six times weekly service to Medan

Tiger dropping Chiang Mai, Krabi and Hat Yai, reducing capacity to Phuket from 14 to 7 and suspending services to Kochi. Increasing services to Ho Chi Minh City and Chennai, and launching services to Bangalore in Jun-08.

Apart from Udon Thani, are these the first services to be dropped by Tiger?

What about Jetstar? Apart from Bangalore, any other services dropped in the past?

I can't understand 3K dropping HKT. I can understand TR dropping Krabi and Hat Yai. Maybe TR are increasing SGN due to Pacific Airlines increasing SGN>SIN ( or so I beleive they are).

What would be a cash cow is if somehow USM could be opened to TR or 3K but I can never imagine PG creating competition for themselves.

Agree with this one.

A direct USM service by TR or 3K could also pull some traffic on their low cost services mel-drw-sin from Australia.

I think USM is more popular than HKT.

I love USM particulary in low season...good fun.

6thfreedom, yes, MEL-DRW-SIN-USM would pull some traffic for sure!

I hear gossip around that Nok Air are trying to get permission from daily BKK(Don Muang) to USM

Really? I thought HKT had picked up most of the Ex DPS traffic?

Have no numbers Anstar, but USM is getting busier all the time.....it has always been popular but even in low season is busy these days..
