Beirut based Middle East Airlines-MEA will introduce its new revised color scheme on its next A330 delivery scheduled for June 2008. It is based on its current color scheme with the introduction of the Lebanese Flag. The engines will have MEA in addition to the green Cedar. Looks good!

They were planning to introduce the new scheme this past February on the existing A321s currently in service. But it was later decided to wait for the new delivery of the A330 possibly to gain some more publicity.

It's been in the works for sometime now. I remember suggesting doing exactly this in a forum some years ago!

Maybe they should put some red touches on the engine nacelles as well à la Royal Jordanian.

I trust the country and the airline will come out even stronger. We can't be that far from rock bottom, hopefully.

Ah! And let them start BEY-BRU at some point if they don't want me to get involved in the business, our friends in general and the close and related family in particular are getting fed up with having to transit all over Europe at undue hours of the night   There are dozens of people flying between BRU and BEY every single day, there's got to be room for a 3 weekly direct service. And we all pay so much more taxes for transfer, it would add revenue for the actual flight if it were to be a nonstop link. Please!

N.B.: Syrian Air's 1-weekly frequency is crap and we don't really feel like flying them...

The 'A' in 'MEA' has been blue since the current livery was introduced, they needed a third color for the third letter, and gold would have looked a lot louder than blue, in my opinion at least.

I agree it look better with just green and red, but the 'MEA' on the front of the fuselage looks HORRIBLE in just red. I mean HORRIBLE!

Speaking of MEA, they should be getting their first A320 in April, meaning very very soon. Also, it is not confirmed the A330 will be delivered in June, however I hope it goes that way.

It's a matter of font type choice. The current font type for MEA is not well choosen, it's not really an 'airline'-like font. The previous one though was too bold:

I preferred the simplicity of the current design, or something more red, a bit à la post 1990... Red engnes would have great, just like RJ did!

Are they really getting an A320 now? I thought they would only get the 330s this year! Any clues on where F-OMEA/B/C will be going after being handed back to ILFC?

Agreed. It's worthy to mention that the tri-color strategy, when the livery was designed years ago, was to recall the diversity of Lebanon and its landscapes, including the blue (representing the sea and sky).

I think a RED-GREEN strategy is too simple, and doesnt reflect on the vibrant, sea-faring (and sky-faring) culture of Lebanon and its various peoples.

I think the livery modification looks great.

From what I know plans changed many times. The first I heard was the the first A330 will enter service this May and the A320s will start coming in by early 2009. What I hear now is that the A330 will enter in the last quarter of 2008 and the first A320 will enter service in April or May, however the rest will still go by the original plan of being delivered through 2009 and 2010. Also new news is that they are considering keeping the 3 330s on lease and only purchasing one new one and later on replacing them slowly.

MEA330s info may be fresher than mine, I got mine around two weeks ago. According to my info, the A320 will be delivered soon like I said, and the A330 the end of the year. The rest of the A320s through 2009-2010. That's all thats known for sure.

Your sarcasm is a pretty typical thing you'd hear form the Lebanese. The thing is, BA, there is never a 'good' time in Lebanon. There's always something wrong, so time has proven that the best way to go is set politics aside. Despite that, the orders were placed before the war, when things seemed to be settling down here, and then some changes were made with the worsening conditions including postponing the delivery of the A330 as the MEA website claims.

Anyway, I hope we will see their first A320 soon, it would be disappointing to hear it'll have to wait another year. As for the new livery, I don't think they're going to get rid of the blue, Lebanese aren't much of change people, they want blue in their colors, they'll keep blue. But who knows.
