Took a couple of hours away from the slopes to see the Continental Express flight arrive from EWR at the Mont Tremblant International Airport. YFJ is a former military strip located at La Macaza, Quebec about 25 miles north of the Ski Resort.

Nice pics! If the pilots parked right next to one of those big snow banks, I think I'd be tempted jump out the door and flop into that fluffy snow, or open the over-wing exit and start skiing right from there.

That ERJ sure looks small for all the luggage pax must have. Does XE block off any seats so there's enough room in the hold for skis/boards/boots?

Great spring skiing now......but get ready for a major melt-down. And long days too......Light until 8pm.

Didn’t do a head-count but there appeared to be pretty good loads both ways. Porter and Voyageur also have flights from Toronto.

It's an excellent resort. Just look out for packs of Quebecois elementary school kids at the restaurants and chalets, often with their teacher, all having a smoke.  Wow!

It is pretty consistently ranked the #1 resort in the Eastern half of North America. My wife and I went in January 2005, and absolutely loved it.

Pros:
* The resort is a good size, in terms of skiable area. I'd say bigger than Crested Butte, but certainly smaller than Vail.
* Lots of variety in terrain difficulty
* Charming base village
* Prices are reasonable, even for ski-in/ski-out lodging
* Lots of non-skiing stuff to do such as spa, sleigh ride, dogsledding, etc
* You can find both "quick food" places and "nice meal" places. I liked the creperie.
* While the altitude difference from top to bottom of the resort is decent (2400') the overall peak altitude is nice and low. So you won't be gasping for breath at the top like in Colorado.
* Nightlife seemed good, but we're not exactly clubbers.

Cons:
* If you're from the US (as your icon says you are), your cellphone will likely be on "roaming" the entire time
* If you fly in/out of YUL, the bus doesn't run very frequently. We had a miscommunication about this and had to take a cab back, which was expensive! So just rent a car if you'll be there less than a week. Or, if you fly in/out of YTM, you should be good.
* I liked my advanced lesson, but my wife wasn't impressed with her adult beginner lesson.
* I don't know if we were just there during an unusually cold spell, but it was just ridiculously cold at night.

Obviously it helps if you speak French, but you can get by without it. I have probably the equivalent of 1 semester of high school French, learned from CD-ROM, and was fine. It's a tourist place 100 miles from the US, after all :P

All in all, I'm dying to go back!

Editing so my post will be on-topic: I'm glad to see that this service still exists - when it was announced I was hopeful but maybe a little skeptical. Any idea what loads/yields are like in general (i.e. were the good loads the OP saw one day representative of most days, or a fluke)?

I think my favorite part of the pictures is the ATV that they are using as a tug. Does anyone know who handles XE there?

Porter Airlines also flies into YFJ from YTZ and YUL. Any pictures of the Q400?
