Over the Christmas period:
YYZ-LAX arr. 14:25 into T2 on UA itinerary but AC metal
LAX-OGG dep. 16:10 from T7 with checked-bags on UA metal.
OGG-LAX arr. 05:11 into T7 on UA metal
LAX-YYZ dep 07:00 from T2 on UA itinerary but AC metal.
I pre-clear Customs/Immigration in YYZ, so there is no worry about Immigration and I am not too concerned about terminal connection time - aside from TSA lines - it is moreso the baggage.
Will UA groundcrew transfer the bags from T2-T7 since it is codeshare or do I have the option to claim my bags at T2 walk through the parking lot to T7, re-check with UA and then clear security?
What would approx. times be between arriving T2 and ending at the T7 gate - 50 mins (including walk and security?)
What would it be if I had the option to re-check the bags with UA?
Will there be any differences on the return portion (ie. T7-T2)?

We will pick your bags up at T2 and take them to T7 for you. If the security like is too long down stairs, feel free to check upstairs, most days the line upstairs is shorter.

If the bags are tagged all the way and you have pre-cleared, then there is no need to reclaim bags. In terms of getting between T2 and T7, the fastest way I know is outside the terminal there is a shuttle that you can pick up at arrivals level (lower level) that does the circuit. Signs are clear, it just depends on how packed it gets. Otherwise, it's a rather nice long walk on departure level where you can take a quick peak at the check in counters. My favorite stop is the TBIT just to see which luggage tags are available! Either way, you would still have to clear security once at T7.

As long as they tag them all the way through, no worries.

Way less than 50 minutes, more like 25. Using the upstairs line is good advice as well, if the downstairs ones are busy. Also, if you have status with AC or any other STAR carrier, go in from the T6 side and there will be little, if any line.

I would simply go down to the arrivals (ground) level and walk directly across to the other side of the airport. If you have very little carry-on baggage with you, that's my suggestion. The shuttle can sometimes be crammed with people and you have to go almost from the start of the U-shaped complex all the way to the other side. I agree that T-6 Checkpoint is likely to be easier. I flew from there on Sat a.m. and it took less than 5-minutes to get through the barely existent line. I'm sure it can get much busier than that, though.
