Also in the news:
-Anadolu Jets first plane TC-JEZ is painted, and I am sure we will see more pics soon. 3 more 734s to join.
-Atlasjet gets three planes back from lease to Saudia. Now what?
-Sun Ekspress will receive its latest 738 TC-SNF in the coming days.

All other news, rumors, pictures, inputs on Turkish aviation is greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone for keeping these threads informative and civil.

Quoting TK787 (Thread starter):

TK787 I must admit that I have not followed all posts in recent Turkish Aviation threads and that I haven´t posted a single phrase myself due to my lack of experience with Turkish aviation. Now that I have made some really nice experience with TK I would like to share them with you.

A few weeks ago I flew the following routes on TK:
TXL-IST B737-800 (winglets)
IST-DAM B737-800
DXB-IST A321 (brand new, delivered in 2008)
IST-TXL B737-800

I didn't expect much and was really surprised by TK's service. Seat pitch, food, entertainment, the hospitality and service in general were all really good. In the past when I thought about TK only bad headlines such as hijackings and crashes came to my mind. Now I see them from a different angle, as a good airline and an enrichment for Star. Well done TK and hosgeldiniz to Star.

TC-SNA, the very first 752 they had in their fleet, left the fleet again recently.
TC-SNB, -NC and -ND are still in the fleet

Congrats on TK becoming an official member is * Alliance, I hope this would help TK improve in CRM and IT areas.
Also what better way to make a name for yourself than using whatever the next big airshow to announce the WB order, if its going to be Airbus order the 350's with 330's for interim. If its going to be Boeing order the 787's mixed in with 777's.
Just do it already.

As far as AnadoluJet goes, I don't like the name at all and I'm with Bahadir on the issue of putting "operated by TK" titles on there and get some brand recognition(the brand that they have been drumming up) They way it is it just like one of the 20 new airline start ups that happen yearly in Turkey.

Hi Beaucaire the flight left IST at 11.45 pm and arrived in DAM at 1.50 am (all local time). The load factor was pretty high. I cannot say anything about business class but eco was 95% filled I would say. Indeed it is a very good alternative to travel to DAM. Many people from other european destinations were on board. The fares seem to be good. At least my four trips were €300 cheaper than AZ, which is also strong in this market.

Can you explain this a little bit more please?

Hi Wing, nice pictures of the 340
when TK was considering all the alliances to join, one advantage was the know how of mega carriers such as LH's will somehow be accessible, and *A put some requirements in IT capability. By this I mean the whole use of technology, booking software, website enhancements etc. Now that TK is officially in *A that means they implemented some of these requirements, but I'm sure TK will benefit more from the know how of these carriers in the future. Which will mean better service for customers, and maybe(hopefully) better all around use of technology that will help employees and pilots also.

That is bad news for TK, just when we think TK will boost its WB fleet.
How does this decision affect the new and planned routes? Do you know anything about it?

About the JM340s, how difficult would it be to add crew rests downstairs? Maybe there were some other issues.

where is the crewrest on their 343 now? many carriers just block the last two rows for crew rest and even than they operate flights up to 11hrs with exactly the same aircraft. there must be another issue!?!?!

IST is a good alternative to travel to DAM provided one doesn't have to wait too long .

I think another key-factor especially on this particular route is that it is operated on a daily basis and additionally there are two afternoon flights Monday and Wednesday.
No other carrier from Europe offers this which is very unsuitable especially for business traveler.

for instants they already implemented a new booking surface to their website some months ago. As far as I know this was compiled by LH Systems and some other carriers use it as well

I checked the fares into DAM with several airlines and it is true that TK have a very good offer for Damascus (not only ..)
Air France and Alitalia are more expensive .From Germany defenitely the most cost-efficient solution.( I live close to Marseille-we have direct on Syrian Arab for about 320 € RT ..)
