AV has signed a preliminary agreement with QT to buy 100% of its shares for an undisclosed value. The Martinair sudsidiary will become part of AV (probably AV Cargo), and this ends rumours on the decision of Martinair to sell QT.

Also, it is planned that AV will have some sort of agreement with Martinair, after this transactino, which could be finished before the end of this semester.

Here's the link in spanish only:

Personally, I think is a great move from AV, will boost their cargo business, and QT's fleet (all 762) will not be a much of a problem, since they already know to perfection this type.

Cheers

I don't think they'll get any trouble from clobmian authorities. Another ball park would be if AV ever buys either P5 or C4 (Aires), but this is irrelevant IMO.

Excellent! Can't wait to see those 4 767s in AV Cargo colors. This will fit perfect in AV's operation.

And it was confirmed after all.
Since I heard the rumour last year I thought it was going to materialize... it had all the sense of the world given Avianca's cargo intentions and Tampa's current situation.

Let's hope it's all for the good of both Airlines and Aviation.

I gladly accept donations to pay for flight hours! This thing draws man...

Great news indeed but i wonder myself if the AV pilots will be happy with these news, cause in case of a fleet/pilot integration the pilot standings at the airline will become a mess, the QT pilots will be placed above of those who are Capt's and F/O in smaller equipments like the F50 F100 MD83 and even the A320 in the pilot antique/technical ranking. guess this wont happen if the pax and cargo pilots stay independent, but let's see how they will solve these problem.

BTW i heard a rumor from some AV pilots that say the MD83 will stay for a while, 5 of them will be gone and 10 will stay. any info on this ?

Regards.

Great news! I am interested in knowing what cargo network AV Cargo will adopt. Which cargo routes are planned? Cargo business between Colombia and CUR seems to be growing, can we see AV Cargo flying to CUR as well?

well how do they do in other airlines that have a cargo airline also like AF or LH ?

for what I heard was that all MD's will leave the fleet by 2010 , and yes this year will leave 5 because they will receive 4 A319 and 2 A320.

I bet routes to Europe can be added, such as MAD. Also EZE and SCL in deep SA. I'm wondering if PTY might become a good place for a cargo only flight, also I bet they will consider CUR and come NA cities, like LAX.

Quoting Danimarroquin (Reply 7):

AFAIK, they are owned by QT, so they'll go to AV as well, like any other asset in QT balance sheet, unless stated by MP, but I don't see the point on keeping the hangar.

While all the 32X fleet arrives, but they will not be replaced in a 1x1 basis, for route and frequncies expansion. But at the end, they'll be gone in less than 2-3 years.

Cheers

Keep me updated in the possibility of AV Cargo flying to CUR, that would be great if true! Maybe an interline agreement might be good?
