I'm intrerested to find out particulars about the activity of TAROM in the world, especially how the company staff treat the clients. I heard a lot of bad news, but I never believe it. I'm interested to make bussines with TAROM and I need to know such details.

Not sure is this is still the case but last time I checked they flew 737s round Europe to all the obvious places (LHR, FRA, CDG, MUC, ATH, ROM, BRU et al, plus Eastern European capitals), with A310s to NY, Chicago (via AMS), Montreal &/or Toronto, Beirut, Dubai and Bangkok. Not sure about service but probably reasonably good if a little old-fashioned. Think Olympic Airways.
They had a bad crash a few years ago when an A310 outbound to Brussels had an engine failure and the aircraft rolled onto it's back and went out of control, crashing a minute later with the loss of all onboard outside Bucharest. They were flying through a snowstorm but that wasn't a factor.
Some of the longhaul destinations may have been trimmed but I'd fly with them, their fares are amazingly cheap (London to Beirut £230 rtn, for instance). Not sure about safety, they nearly lost another A310 over Paris, it "got away from them", shall we say. Some of you may have seen the heartstopping footage, as I have.

Hi,
i havn't flown RO myself up till now. As Cedarjet said, RO is since about ten years trying to promote it's hub (similar to LZ in SOF) for traffic from and to the middle east. Especially out/from to Damascus and Beirut. Even though they have very encoureging fares the loads they move are rather low. They are among the lowest priced carriers out of markets Lebanon, Syria but also Germany. The biggest problem appears to me is convincing potential pasngers that RO is not the same it used to be 20 years ago. The attitude of most passsngers is still very gloomy and in most cases linked to the thinking of the poor economical situation in Romania. On top of that, in europe their network is still not as extensive as rivals CSK and Malev. Beside, those carriers can over some interesting stopover programms in Budapest and Prag which apparently RO can't.
Out of Germany to southern europe and middle east, their fares are extremely low and mainly marketed through big consolidators who in return sell same via internet. (Travel overland, Flug.de,....etc.)

I just got their latest in-flight magazine from a travel show, and their only long haul destinations are Middle east(kuwait, Dubai, Abu Dhabi etc), Beijing and North America(JFK,Montreal, Toronto) - no Bangkok .
I guess their service will be along the lines of Czech Airlines, nothing flash at all.

Hi!
TAROM used to be a client of Lisbon airport in the past. As far as I remember TAROM was the 2nd. and only airline from Eastern Europe to fly to Lisbon along of course with Aeroflot, this after the revolution in Portugal. TAROM started a rare route from Bucarest to Casablanca via Lisbon with TU154's, sometimes they would replace that with the longer IL62. For some years we saw those planes coming regulary to Lisbon, even we saw the late YR-TPK that crashed in North Africa. From some years now they stopped flying to Lisbon and I can guess that route was a more like political route with no big business. My feeling is that Romenia passed for troubled times but now it tends to get better and better, their fleet looks quite neat and I'm sure they have a regular service. The last time I saw a romenian aircraft was a B. 707 at Lisbon, YR-ABC when I was arriving from Zurich with Swissair.
regards

I saw a Tarom 737 at Milan Malpensa (MXP) last Wednesday at about 11.00am.
Amir mentioned that passengers would be unlikely to want to stop over at Bucharest however it seems quite an interesting place. Have a look at http://www.inyourpocket.com/Romania/index.shtml for a travel guide to Romania. (And other East Europe destinations)

Hi Parra,
thanks for the info.
In fact the thing is that most pax have a certain bad attitud which is in many cases not justified! so they do't want to learn more about a stopover progamm for instance just beacuse they think that Romania is still in stone age.
