Does anyone know if there are any good places to watch airplanes takeoff and land at Dorval airport, Montreal? What are the good places inside and outside?

thanks,

JMJ

Absolutely. If you want some good starters check out:

http://www.cam.org/~hill/Spotting.html
http://www.planespotting.com/airports/plcan.html#MT1
http://www.multimania.com/djipibi/aviation/observationpages/AvionsObservation0.htm

Also if you are interested in having a guided tour please check my profile and e-mail me. If the timing is convenient I'm willing to show you around the various spots (maybe not all since not all are useful at a given time since it depends on the lighting and wind direction) as long as you can provide the car to drive around. There are quite a few good spots. To get an idea of the type of views you can check out my Dorval photos at Airliners.net:

Cheers,
Felix

Sounds good. I'm always looking for one excuse or another to go out there to photograph. Are you in Montreal or just planning to visit?

Cheers,
Felix

The spotting section of the Dorval page is down or just not working properly. I will try and have it fixed by the end of this week.

Hi Dave,

The actual page is working (I gave a direct link to it rather than through your page). The link from the Dorval Enthusiasts home page isn't working since something is messed up in the link. Since I'm pretty familiar with managing webpages I took a few guesses and found the correct URL for the spotting page itself.

Cheers,
Felix

Dave,

I see what you mean by some problems with the page itself. The text content is there but the accompanying images seem to have disappeared. I also get a strange problem in IE5.5 where the text for some of the sections like the Terminal Car Park or Dorval Sport Center is black on a dark blue background so it's almost impossible to read unless you click and drag to highlight the text.

Cheers,
Felix

Yeah, I've focussed on the News and Images over the past year and have not really been checking up on the other parts. My dad just got a PC (I use Mac) so I can finnaly test the page with IE on a PC and see how everything looks. I should be able to fix bugs like that. As I said before, I hope to get some of the rest of the page taken care of over the next little while. If ind the spotting section is very important and it should be one of the first sections I take care of. Thanks for letting me know what's working, as I rarely go through the whole page these days.
