Interesting story from the NBC station in Miami about Delta's new menu in first and business class. Click on the link to see it. Apparently a chef in Miami comes up with many of the dishes.

There is quite a lot that goes into airline meals. Sadly, all of the people involved are greatly unappreciated, whether it be the chefs who plan them, the cooks and kitchen staff who prepare them and the F/As who serve them. It's so much harder to prepare a meal which comes out right at altitude. It is really neat to see how it all comes together like this though.

I've been flying J with DL over the pond for a few years, and I can truly say the food choices and the taste definitely improved since they started the menu with the celeb chefs. Looks like it will get even better.

That's actually an old video, or at least old information. There's no date associated with the video (thanks NBC), so it's hard to tell exactly when it was made.
EATS, the new Delta food menu is now available, since Tuesday, on all domestic flights over an hour and a half long (750 miles). The EATS menu features food created by Todd English, a celebrity chef. Anything on the menu is available to anyone on board (not limited to First/Business, as the video says).

Although a different carrier, Top Chef on Bravo recently featured an episode in Season 3 where the contestants had to cook a J-class worthy meal in CO's EWR kitchens, plate it on trays, put the trays in a meals trolley, and then the next day warm and serve the meals aboard a 777 to the judges, as well as some of CO's most senior FAs. It was a very enlightening experience to see what actually happens.
Can passenger jets fly as fast as my feet do? Let's find out...

I think they did this last season too - with Lufthansa if I'm not mistaken, or was that a different show?

My first job in airline catering was inspecting flight kitchens....for first year all I could do was walk around with my mouth agape...
Especially in the big multi-airline kitchens "back in the day" when there were multiple pieces of service ware per airline per class of service per meal....balancing equipment from station to station was a full time job!

Thanks for the link. But all there seems to be are "snack-like" items like a sandwich or salad within the coach class selection. Nothing wrong about sandwiches or salads, but they aren't exactly full hot plate meals.
Nonetheless, definitely a step in the right direction... go Delta!
