Great, this thread is turning into a Virgin America bashing, and the "politically correct" people will blame me for starting this thread.

Back to my original question, anybody know when an announcement is expected from the DOT????

As the award is on a expedited basis, normally DOT rules within 60 days of last pleadings in such cases.

With last replies from airlines having been submitted on March 3rd, they likely have at most 3 or so weeks to award the route.

Go Virgin America!!! Pushing VX here too!!! We want VX in Mexico!!! UA had its chance for years.... take a look how they treated MX when on Star and how they have treated Mexico for the last decades.... nothing compares to CO, DL and AA and more recently AW/US who have always been and are always pushing new flights to Mexico.

It would be awesome to have Virgin American and way better if they could partner with someone else here... *ahem* Volaris or Vivaaerobus...!!!

Welcome to Mexico SRB!!!

I'm not so sure. Last time Branson was in Mexico he was nearly deported having offended a state governor. SRB had to charter an aircraft to bring him to LAX on quite short notice.
