Quote: Asked for the details, CEO Klaus Heinemann demurred citing contract confidentiality but he did say the AerCap obtained the NPV of future earnings for the aircraft and residual as a premium for these positions.
He disclosed that another lessor was involved in the transaction and “ultimately an airline.” Airbus, he said, badly needed the aircraft for a major sales campaign with a flag carrier. Heinemann did not disclose either the lessor or the airline.
Quote: Kuwait Airways is intending to lease a long-haul and short-haul aircraft from June as an interim measure to increase capacity.
The article also mentions that they are looking for a320's/737's for short haul and a330/a340 or 777's for long haul (not much other choice anyway).
Now, are these articles entirely unrelated, or could I be right in thinking that because Kuwait Airways wants these aircraft on such short notice, Airbus is pulling out all stops to get them for KU, such as the arrangement with AirCap for the a320's?
After all, the AirCap CEO said the aircraft are for a flag carrier who wants them on short notice.
