I READ IN THE LOCAL NEWS PAPER THAT WN WILL ORDER 75 757-300'S WITH 224 SEATS TO FLY VAST NETWORK OF HIGH DENSITY TRANS CON NONSTOPS AS WELL AS SOME SERVICE TO HNL AND OGG FROM POINTS IN THE MIDWEST (MCI, BNA) AND THE WEST COAST (OAK, LAX). WN MAY ALSO USE THE AIRCRAFT TO FINALLY FLY TO ANC WHERE FARES ARE SO HIGH.
YEH SOUTHWEST YOUR THE BEST....I LOVE SOUTHWEST!

There is nothing about this anywhere on the web. Can you provide a link news article that will backup your claim?

Please prove your claim. Herb isn't an idiot; he knows if he adds another fleet type it will raise costs for the airline, not to mention the quantum leap seat capacity from 137 on the 73G to 224 on the 753.

75 aircraft would be enough of a fleet type to help offset any new costs..Pilot training would be easy due to commonality..

It sounds good but the BNA/MCI to Hawaii flts are just too long for a 757..from the West Coast no big deal..

Now with all the F/F members of WN being able to fly to HNL WN will see how hard it is to make money into Hawaii especially when times are tough...

That's funny. What's your local paper? SWA prided themselves in using only 737s. HMM... HERB is SICK with cancer... but he must still be in charge.

And why 757? Why not go 767,it would greater passenger appeal. Better put the competition CEOs on suicide watch.

Yes indeed it is true: I read the same article as Workbench. However, he failed to tell you everything. Southwest also has plans to acquire up to 4 747-400s to fly the Lubbuck-Amarillo-Tokyo route. They are also implementing a code share partnership with Saudia. By fall 2000, they hope to have rights for the ever so popular Nashville Riyadh-Dharain route ... isnt that right Workbench? :PPP!

All kidding aside: I think Workbench was reading the Enquirer! Souithwest with a 757? HAH! Now that's funny

Just looked everywhere. Southwest is just as likely to order 75 757-300s as Metrojet will order 25 Concordes. Hey, did anyone hear the rumor that Singapore Air Lines just signed for 1500 Casa 212s to operate regional US services? Come on.
