Nice to see SkyWest re-enter the Rock Springs market. Been too long since RKS has had Westbound service.

This is going to devestate Great Lakes short term. 3 of their cash cows they had were Gillete, Rock Springs & Grand Junction. Gillette & Rock Springs now have service from UAX (Mesa DH8s) and DLC (OO). GJT is supposed to get Linx Q400s.

Don't call it too quick there.
It's 366 miles SLC-GCC as the crow flies, which is 30 miles short than SFO-RDM, which routinely averaged a 2:05 block.

the great circle mapper shows SLC-GCC at 410 miles. SLC-CPR is 320...and it took the E120 about 1:30 to 1:40 to get to CPR on average!!! Now we all know that its gonna take alot longer getting to GCC then getting to SLC....so why is the block time the same???

3721 which left CPR at 6am was blocked at 1:49. You mean to tell me the brasilia is going to travel an extra 90 miles in 11 minutes??? Thats just asking for late arriving aircrafts every time into SLC!!!!

Actual block time can vary wildly from scheduled time based on taxi times.
Quoting OOer (Reply 6): You mean to tell me the brasilia is going to travel an extra 90 miles in 11 minutes???
No, as far as estimated actual airtime, it would be around 1:30. Then, tack on 10 minutes to taxi out, and then 10 minutes to taxi in, and viola, an estimated 1:50 block time!
All of these times are dependant on how the upper air behaves. Since the Bro flies lower and out of the jet stream, it won't be hit as hard as a jet, but the winds will still be somewhat strong, but can vary wildly in speed and direction.

You are mixing statute and nautical miles in your math, OOer. All of the numbers I have posted are based on nautical miles.
Here's math based on a real routing, with an average TAS:
380 nm / 285 true knots = 80 minutes = 1:20
Add 10 minutes taxi on both ends, that's 1:40 block.
Add 10 minutes to both sides, and that's 131 minutes, or 2:11 minutes.
However, that said, it does not, and should not, take 10 minutes to taxi out on a good day. 4-5 minutes at most. Also, assuming that they land on 16R, it will not take longer than 5 minutes, but if landing 16L, then taxi can be up to 10 minutes.
So, as stated prior, it is the taxi time that can make or break a scheduled block. However, that said, there is always that 15 minute leeway provided by the DOT.

OOer, let's leave the route planning to the professionals.
The basic math that Goldenshield provides above is a pretty decent representation of how market planning gets with FlightOps to arrive at these scheduled block times. It isn't always accurate...and scheduled block times can be adjusted in later timetables as necessary.

Its good to see cities with limited connections getting new service with all of the cutbacks going on across the country.

Well, Great Lakes (ZK) is ending Grand Junction (GJT 4/30). I did not even realize that Mesa was flying into Rock Springs(RKS) as well. But isn't ZK still the designated EAS carrier in both Gillette(GCC) and RKS correct? So until that ends, I suppose they'll stick it out. Or is RKS even still an EAS city?

Back 2 (almost 2 1/2 now) years ago, ZK optioned to fly them without subsidy. During this massive runup in fuel prices, RKS & GCC have exploded in passengers (2-3x increase) while fares are in the $250+ oneway. From what I understand, before ZK had their UA contract renewed on Nov 1, 2007, UA made it quite clear that they would be starting UAX service with Mesa into there, and if they didnt like it, tough luck.
