I just wondered which type of aircraft might take over the freighter role in Qantas fleet when the 747 Classics will leave in the mid of this decade. QF currently has two 747 Combis (VH-ECB and -ECC) that to my knowledge are often used for freight carrying.
Anyway: why do QF (and Ansett) have no dedicated freighter aircraft?

Dont Qantas have a joint share in Australian Air Express with Australia post, where they fly A few 727's and BAE 146's. Qantas also uses five B747 freighters weekly with Evergreen International Airlines and shares five MD11 freighters weekly with FEDEX, they also sharew space on a weekly martinair flight. This can all be found at www.Qantas.com.au , under frieght.
