With all the gossip going around and some facts coming out, what do any of us know about the NW cargo operations? Will this be scrapped and the 747's sold off? Will DL take this over as well? It would be sweet to see DL go back out and get some MD-11's to replace the aging 747's........just kidding, this will never happen.

I had nostalgic hope that they would keep the NW cargo brand name as a Delta company, and keep the fleet painted as NW, too. But I doubt it. But it would be cool!

Operationally, I would not expect any substantial changes to the cargo operations including the ANC cargo hub. That is a profitable operation. The a/c type may change (but that would anyways), but the overall product remains.

I wonder if DL wishes they held on to some MD-11 and 762s for these operations of the combined airline...

B4REAL, spelled like it sounds

NW cargo is still a viable concern going forward... Fleet renewal? Most likely. Going away? Doubtful.

It might placate Minnesota if they kept the freight subsidiary HQ'd up there as well...

MW Cargo is probably the most profitable part of northwest.
I am sure they will keep this running.... at least for a little while longer

Would only make sense to keep a money making part of the company in tact. Those MD-11's seem to have a lot more value now. Who would have thunk it? The 747s would look great in DL colors. At least DL now has their 787's coming.

I'm sure the MAC would appreciate the tablescraps. The cargo ops are profitable and all, but that's by no means the meat and potatos.

Hail! to the victors valiant, Hail! to the conqu'ring heroes, Hail! Hail! to Michigan the leaders and best! Go Blue!
