According to Chosun-Ilbo (http://english.chosun.com/w21data/html/news/200804/200804150024.html) Korean Air will be commencing with summer charter services to CNS, DAD, and TXN. Anyone have anymore info in regards to these flights? What equipment will they be operated by etc?

No confirmed information but wouldn't be surprised if they let their A333 for BNE make a scheduled stop in CNS a few times a week. CX does the same with the daily flights in to BNE and depending on the days either goes HKG-CNS-BNE-HKG or HKG-BNE-CNS-HKG. Would be interesting to hear more as I am a big fan of KE and will be off to FRA in July in their Prestige Class out of BNE.

While at it, is KE upgrading their Prestige Class seat on the A333 same as on the 744 ?

Cheers from Brisbane,

I don't think mixing charters with scheduled services would work. My guess: an A330 SEL-CNS maybe 2x week.

Sorry mate, I missed the charter part but would be interesting to hear from someone with inside knowledge if KE is actually considering flying charter to CNS or if they intend to offer CNS in their seasonal summer schedule for Korean holiday makers.

Cheers,

KE will operate Cairns charter 12 times this summer - between mid July and late August, twice a week. I believe A333 will run on this route. 3 more times this year compared to last summer when 9 charters were operated. The charter is always successful since started like 3(or 4) years ago, so hopefully make it a regular flight in near future.

KE doesn't have any plan to upgrade A333 and A332, unfortunately.

I thought new seats along with the IFE system for the A330s were ordered for delivery next year?

The biggest mistake made by most human beings: Listening to only half, understanding just a quarter and telling double.

Now I remember that KE contracted with a company (maybe Panasonic) about IFE system for 30-50 airplanes (I don't remember exact number). But did they also mentioned that 330 will also have it? I thought it was just for current old 772s and 773ER, 380, and 787 only. Let me search.. may take for a while.

Yeah, you're right. KE will start installing state-of-the-art Thales's IFE on 52 aircrafts - 10 new 787s, 10 new 777-300ERs, 9 777-200ERs (retrofit), 4 777-300s (retrofit) and 19 A330s (retrofit), starting March 2009. Thanks for updating me!
