Hey
I've heard that Delta plans to adopt a 3-3-3 configuation in economy instead of the current 2-5-2 on its triple 7.
Can anyone confirm this information ?

Delta is reconfiguring the 777s in a new 3-3-3 configuration due to complaints from both passengers and flight attendents about the isles not matching up between classes and the massive inconvience regarding galley spacing/planning. The seats will all be replaced/modified to allow for more legroom, but it is unknown what will happen with the dreaded BAe Business Elite seats. They are always breaking down on passengers.
All 767-400s & many 757s will be gutted and reconfigured in a new layout due to the stupidity of Delta when designing the amount of legroom and the layout of the seats and galleys in all the new incoming planes. The 767-400 has a lot of minor flaws, but hopefully those can be worked out.

DL just released a memo stating the reconfiguration of its B777, as well as new seats to be installed on the 767-400, 737-800, some of the newer 757's and 767-300ER. The B777 will go to a 3-3-3 layout in the coach cabin. New seats are being installed and se veral changes are readily apparent. First, the leg rests are gone. Second, the entertainment control units that were underneath the window and middle seats are being redesigned and remounted to become less intrusive. The B777 will not be reconfigured until fall of 2001 because thst coincides with the install of crew rest facilities in the ceiling of the plane. They don't want to pull the planes from service twice this year. The 767-400's will be complete by April. New seats offer just over an inch more legroom, and the phone/handset unit is being relocated to another position, giving the seat another inch of width. The 737-800's will be complete by the end of the year, as well as the newer 757's and 767-300ER's that were delivered with the problem seats. PTV's in coach on the -300ER's were not mentioned, and probably will not be installed in the near future. New programing was also mentioned for the 777, with more channels and more games made available immediately.
