If the LCA to FRA flights are all on EK, they will provide you with free accommodation (as long as your connection is to the first available flight), and they can through check your bags to the final destination. I would contact the EK desk in LCA to arrange it.

Quoting Piskoto (Reply 4): The true reason is that I don't want to die in a Cyprus Airways' A319 or in a Lufthansa's A300!
In case you haven't realized: you'll still be flying on an LH A300 on the FRA-TXL sector.
Don't worry, you are not going to die though... the A300s are fine aircraft.

Those happen to be two airlines with the best safety records. If not mistaken, CY has never had a fatal accident in their entire history.
Flying almost 3 times further than necessary doesn't make much sense. How does the fare for the routing via DXB compare with a more logical routing that doesn't involve the backtrack?

Guys, he's taking three flights rather than 1 or 2, getting to go on a proper long haul aircraft and fly a great airline AND rack up over twice as many flying miles as the conventional routing, and people are questioning him?! I thought this was the done thing amongst A-net members!

Ok. If your itinerary is on a single booking reference, then you should be able to check your bags through... Certainly DXB is used to long transfers, although you don't say how long it will be. I've spent 8 hours in the business class lounge and was very happy, although I've heard that 1st class EK customers are offered a hotel nearby (there is one inside the transit area, too).
If your booking is over two (or more) separate tickets, then it's going to be more problematic, as the first check-in point that you go through will only normally be able to tag your bags to the last destination on the ticket being used. So, if you have an EK ticket LCA - FRA via DXB, your bags will go as far as FRA. One reason for this is that at LCA they will/can only tag your bags for sectors that they can check you in for, so if your FRA - TXL bit is on a separate LH ticket, the EK check-in agent at LCA won't be able to do anything about that.
As for the type of 777, no-one can actually say for certain until the day, but if you have a look at Amadeus, you will see it is listed as a 200/200ER. I guess you're after the 200ER, but you won't know until it's left DXB on the flight to LCA...

I see what you mean. But I took Piskoto to mean that he did not mind dying while in an EK first class seat.

Yes that one, 'Dubai International' ! Emirates is offering it free but my travel agent charged me €200 for two 8-hour accomodations both on the arrival leg and departure. He is a thief! Anyway!

Yes, indeed! They are much more confortable!

My booking reference lists all of the three flights together (EK EK LH) but the printed e-tickets the agent gave me are three separated ones! I asked him to tell me more about the checkin but he didn't care!

Well, why take the direct routing which would be a 3 hour flight if you can make it a 10+ hour shitride in first class.
This must be the craziest routing I have ever seen. Why don't you fly LH business class? It won't be the best but it is sure sufficient for a 3 hour flight...
Sometimes I just nod my head and wonder....

There is one problem with airbus. Though their products are engineering marvels they lack passion, completely.

Lufthansa does not offer a flat bed!
Neither for a 2:30h flight (LCA-DXB) ice and seats reclining!

It is not the first time! We (me+cousine) have done it again in the past and we will continue to do it in the future!
You think this is odd?
Just take a look:
1)LCA-DXB-VIE C Class
VIE-MXP-LCA C Class
2)LCA-DXB-JFK F Class
JFK-DXB-LCA F Class
3)LCA-DXB-ZRH-FLORENCE F Class
FLORENCE-FCO-DXB-LCA F Class
And all these because we don't like the Cyprus Airways' fleet! (Except LHR and CDG which are operated by A332!)

That´s not quite right. It really does not matter at all if the flights you booked are all in one PNR or in many, especially if, as is in this case, you´re using different airlines.

Not always so. I returned this week DXB-BAH-FRA on GF connecting to FRA-DFW-SFO on AA and checked my bags all the way through. Same on the outbound. Two different tickets, paid and award.

Quoting CYatUK (Reply 17): It feels like going from Limassol to Pafos via Nicosia
other Cypriots told us this too!
Anyway, just returned and had a great time.
Our bags went directly at Ritz Cartlon Berlin, so no worries!
Everyone was very helpful, even Lufthansa's people! (Nice! I didn't expect this to be honest!)
Note to turbulence lovers: Seat belts signs from DXB-FRA went off just for 14 minutes. The rest 5:49 hours the aircraft was experiencing moderate-severe turbulence!
