Yesterday I thought about one thing. Many of major airlines with long history now tend to have a plane painted in retro colors in their fleet. I guess all know Lufthansa A321, Austrian A320, Iberia A319, a series of US Airways retro-jets, Delta 767-200 and some others.
But I cannot remember any retro-jet of major Asian airline. Many of them have or had brilliant special schemes like Cathay's "Asia's World City", ANA's "Pokemon", JAL Disney series, Thai Royal Barge and ill-fated SQ "Tropical" but there are no planes intentionally painted in old airline colors.
What's the reason for this? Is there any superstition in Asian world about looking back to the past?
Just imagine how, say, a 777 in old CX colors would look like! Of course, now we can draw or model nearly everything. We have lots of software to do this. But real thing is always best and I'm looking forward to seeing a retro-jet of Korean Air, JAL, Air China or any other Asian airline flying over my home.
