According to Air Cargo News, Air Canada is to end its remaining daily cargo service next June.

The flight, operated on an ACMI basis by World Airways, serves the YYZ-FRA route. Once weekly the MD-11F stops at YHZ from where it hauls seafood to VIT.

The main reason cited behind the decision is fuel price. For more, follow the link.

Not only fuel price but the 777's have made a big difference in Cargo hauled. With 12 in service now, one ready to deliver any day, and one out of the paint shop at Boeing, the cargo capacity that AC has in the belly of planes has grown greatly. The writing was on the wall when AC cancelled the 777F order.

Too bad for World. Let's hope that the North American economy strengthens and oil prices drop, and that air freight rates and demand improve over all.

AC's 13th 777, a -300ER, was delivered on Tuesday. They now have 7 -300ERs and 6 -200LRs.
