There has been some speculation on these boards about Royal Air Maroc leasing aircraft from Austrian Airlines for their Canadian operation.

On Feb 16th, the Cdn Transportation Agency issued a notice stating that, from February 17th to March 10th, Royal Air Maroc would be using leased Austrian Airlines aircraft and flight crew on their Casablanca - New York - Montreal service.

Yes, this is true. They are either leasing A330s or A340s to fill in until the 767s arrive. RAM is also still deciding what series 767 they will order.

Polaris:

This is correct. Tomorrow, we expect an OS A332 (259 seats configuration) in YUL. We do not have any words, as passenger agents, however for how long we will have this kind of Airbus. Regarding the reason, the B744 is currently used by the King of Morocco (Arab Summit) and the B742 is undergoing maintenance checks apparently.

Transat1011:

Thank you for the info about the 744 and 742. I was wondering why RAM had to lease an aircraft for a month.

Merci.

AS we talk, RAM`s B742 is now back into service. It will however go on the CMN-JED route, where traffic is of course very high at this time of the year.
The whole crew of the A332 is of course from Austrian with their traditional "red" uniform, but RAM sends 2 extra FAs, regarding the language barrier, although 3-4 crew from OS spoke an excellent French.
I also saw the usual Star Alliance announcements on the screens in the aircraft and I wondered "RAM in Star...Why not ?"
Or Egyptair...

Over the last few months, most pax on RAM were boarding in JFK. But on the Tuesday Airbus flight we left with about 160 pax from YMQ, including the 15 or so RAM crew who had to be "ferried" back to CMN. It was overbooked both from YMQ and from JFK.

Felix,

Do you have any pax that just fly for the yul-jfk portion of the flight? How are connecting pax numbers as of late?

Truly Yours,
Mark
