Modesto (MOD) is putting together a package to present to Skywest to try to keep the MOD-LAX flights that are scheduled to end June 28.

The flights reportedly have been only 1/2 full.

Part of the discussion is to start charging for airport parking and use the money to support flights.

I'm glad that MOD is fighting to hold onto the LAX route rather than just giving in. With competition from surrounding airports, we need to do whatever it takes to keep us competitive. Hopefully SCASD grant money will allow SkyWest to continue the route or allow a new airline like Horizon to begin. The last 3 SCASD grant applications were backed by Horizon.

What about downsizing from four to two flights a day and thus allowing the business people to utilize it as they need?
