Star Alliance Question

I just saw Air Canada's A340 painted in their Star Alliance livery. I was wondering, how may aircrafts do the Alliance members have to paint. I am guessing that they are painting their long term aircrafts, thats why A/C is avioding their 744's because they might dissapear soon. Will we see more and more Alliance aircrafts in their livery?

Thanks,

G

As far as I know, each Star Alliance airline has 1 aircraft painted in the livery. None of them are 747s, sadly...

Singapore Airlines doesn't, and I don't think Varig does now either since they retired their 743 that had the Star livery...

Varig's 743 was only painted in Star colors on one side and only a few days. They also had (have??) a 767-200ER in Star colors. All Star carriers except Ansett, Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines have aircraft in Star colors. The777Man

Air New Zealand has not got any aircraft painted in Star Alliance colours but with new order which is due out soon we may find that one or two of the aircraft will painted in Star Alliance colours.

in star colors:
LH a-340-200 (still? haven´t seen it for quite some time)
OS a-330-200, a-320
BD a-330-200 (soon, will be flying for SK daily CPH-EWR)
believe an additional a-320
VO DHC-8, CRJ
AC a-330-300
MX 757-200
NH 767-200

as for UA, RG, TG i´m not sure but i remember something about UA and RG, though.
i´ve never heard of any SQ, NG, AN or NZ planes in star livery.
well, that´s the first thing i´ve heard about that two planes must be painted in star colors and i doubt that there´s such a rule. there are some star members which haven´t got a star-painted plane, yet.
if my info was not entirely correct, sorry, and please feel free to make corrections...

UA has N556UA (?) in Star c/s, AC has a A343, and LH has D-AIBA. I remember hearing that ANZ wouldn't paint any planes in the Star c/s because it was a waste of paint or something like that.

VO doesn't fly CRJs ; the CRJ in Star colors is a Lauda CRJ. The registration of the UA Star plane is N653UA. The777Man

777man, you´re incorrect, sorry.
VO definitively flies CRJs, as well as lauda.
although i admit that i could have confused the tyrolean crj with star colors with the lauda crj in star colors.
nonetheless, tyrolean has a fleet of CRJs!!!
once, i saw one of their crjs with my own eyes and if you still don´t believe me, check out their homepage and you can see  Wink/being sarcastic they´ve got a fleet of 10 CRJs.

best wishes
daniel

Ok, I'm sorry; I guess Tyrolean does have CRJs. I remember I saw one at CDG about a month ago. But the CRJ with Star colors is Lauda's ; it has the Lauda logo at the very front. The777Man

Welcome to the forum, Mx727... I am also an enthusiast of Mexican aviation. Do you work in the aviation industry?

Both of the MX Star Alliance birds are frequent visitors here at SFO.

I guess you could say I am lucky. In an earlier post I mention flying on UA 946 a while back when it was operated by a 763. About two years ago, I looked at the aircraft before boarding and saw the color scheme and had no idea what it was until after the trip. I thought it was just a joke in their commercials, but its a great livery on the 767. As I said, I was on one of 'em! Awesome plane too... very comfortable with PTVs in all seats.
