Terminal 2:

TAP, United, Varig, TAM and Pluna.

Also PZ, TAM Mercosur which in fact is a division of TAM.

New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !

You see that GIG is already aligned with TAM's future membership of Star Alliance being GIG T2 TAM hub and therefore Star's hub. In case TA joins Star, I would assume TA would also move to T2.

Any plans for RG moving to T1 next to its boss GOL?

Is PU flying to GIG already? I though only effective 02 June 2008 would PY resume MDV-GIG via CWB?

Also, Air Europa uses GIG T1 until it terminates its operations there next week, I think. Or, had UX terminated its operations in GIG last week?

Rgs,

Star carriers are at T2 because of Varig not TAM. After RG left the alliance there wasn't any sort of rearrengement.

Their counter is there, their office is there. The Rio base was never closed.

UX is history at GIG already.

TA is trying to lure the domestic services offered by RG in order to match TA LIM-GRU as well as the new TA LIM-GIG.
With that being said, it makes sense the chance for TA to utilize the Terminal 2 later.
However, I don't foresee the cooperation between TA and JJ again in short-term, despite both air carriers are undoubtedly aiming to Star Alliance.

In fact, I believe GIG was the first airport marketed by Star Alliance as where the alliance made the effort of moving under one roof: http://www.staralliance.com/int/pres...5_StarAlliance_OneRoof_english.pdf

I never said otherwise neither that there was any rearrengement. I mentioned that Star is aligned in GIGT2, especially taking into account the possibility of TAM joining Star.

Charters nowadays, not regular, but some to Africa and PDP/MVD.

Just 1 day. Last flight departed Saturday closer to 0:10 IIRC

And probably they will use in the future.

This should be a matter of concern as JJ is code-sharing with LP on LIM route. They just establish code-share on JJ8018 to allow LAN customers in Rio to get the afternoon flight from Sao Paulo to LIM.
Of course TACA was very smart and begin to advertise it's flight with a very huge " Direct From Rio to Lima, only with TACA" : https://www.gapnet.com.br/vis_comunicados.asp?cod_info=35865

As usual, thanks for the technical and precise answer. Plus MVD will be back as regular via CWB in June, as we discussed.

Which will be a winner as GIG pax will also be one connection away (LIM) from a range of Andean and Central American destination opening an important gateway. In fact, I see TA competiting with CM and not with LA. The market has now shifted and LA/TA are behind in GIG.

Those signs are everywhere at GIG and everyday on the newspapers.

No, not yet, JUN26 will be the start date of MVD-CWB-GIG-CWB-MVD daily operated by CR9.....interesting to see the CR9 the whole night in GIGs tarmac and returning early in the morning.

Saludos!!

With respect to those travelers originated at GIG:
TA would easily transfer passengers to the northern zone of South America: BOG, MDE, UIO, GYE and CCS.
LAN system can do JJ GIG-GRU and then LP GRU-LIM. Connections to UIO, MDE, GYE, BOG, CCS as well as domestic airports in Peru are affordable once at LIM.
The mentioned destinations are not convenient through operations at PTY and involved on CM's network.
However, CM can easily connect passengers to Mexico, the US bound and the Caribbean through PTY. CM takes advantage over both LA and TA in these stations.

Regards.
