KLM lately said the A380 was "on the shortlist", but not apparently at the top of that list. (they're looking to buy new widebodies to replace ones going out)

Never say never....
KLM and Qantas are about the same in few ways. First, they never bought airbuses, they once operated them (300->Qantas, 310-> KLM)... nothing else .. But we know what happened. So, if they may get B744ER, why isn't there no chance of getting A380?
With their converting 742 to 742sud, don't you think they need capacity? I think they may order airbuses, same case as Qantas A330 and A380. But there is chance that they may want to get B777 as MD11 replacement and standardise the fleets.
