I've read an article in a dutch paper about the interest of KLM for the new Airbus A380. Does somebody know a little bit more about this message?

Although I didn't read the article, I doubt KLM will buy the A380.

KLM has always been fond of Boeing, e.g KLM does not own a single airbus.
Its my opinion that KLM will chose the B747X

Yeah, but KLM got rid off them.

Anyway - I thought KLM was virtually broke. How are they going to afford some new A380s right now?

Well, at least they have a nice livery - the only one that I think could possibly make an A380 look anywhere near bearable.

KLM lately said the A380 was "on the shortlist", but not apparently at the top of that list. (they're looking to buy new widebodies to replace ones going out)

I personall think that with KLM's route structure, they will NOT buy the A380-800 until after 2010.

They may order the 747-400ER and 777-300ER, though.

Never say never....  Smile
KLM and Qantas are about the same in few ways. First, they never bought airbuses, they once operated them (300->Qantas, 310-> KLM)... nothing else  Confused.. But we know what happened. So, if they may get B744ER, why isn't there no chance of getting A380?
With their converting 742 to 742sud, don't you think they need capacity? I think they may order airbuses, same case as Qantas A330 and A380. But there is chance that they may want to get B777 as MD11 replacement and standardise the fleets.

Yeh, I agree with the guy above, but I don't think they have enough pax to get a A380.

Not sure about that but we know that KLM has shown more interest in Airbusses the recent time unless that Holland is a typical Boeing minded country.
