Hi everyone,

I was just looking for flights between AMM and Aqaba and realized that the evening flight is operated by a Fokker 28. But the RJ website does not mention any Fokkers in their "fleet" section.

Where do these planes come from? Do they belong to a subsidary or something?

Thanks

Not sure where they come from, but it looks like they use either 4 or 6 of them (one of the two)....and they fly them with either a Y68 or a J8Y60 configuration. It looks like they have been flying for RJ since late '06/early '07.

The Fokkers are operated by AirQuarius Aviation with South African crews. All I can say is fly it, a great experience! Big grin

The main reason RJ wet-leased the F-28s was for its Iraq operations. As hull war insurance rates are charged as a percentage of hull values, RJ couldn't afford to then operate the Dash-8 (valued at USD 14M) as the additional war premium would eat up all the profits. The F-28s are insured for only USD 1M hull value and thus command a much smaller additional premium and can thus make the flights profitable (and quite handsomley!).

RJ has replace one of the two Fokker F28 with another F28.

Now they have ZS-JES and ZS-XGW in use. Not sure for how long, because RJ has the Embraer E175 on order and the first will deliver to AMM very soon.

Well I am not really as adventureous as you man.. I don't feel safe in every aircraft (by that I mean I would avoid a 732 or a 727 at all costs). Should I be concerned about these little birds?  Smile
