Hey all,

Something I've been wondering for awhile is, with the announcement of the NW/DL merger, will the NW-ordered 787's be delivered as 787-851's?? Since NW's first 787 is beginning final assembly, I would imagine the customized features on the plane are well underway, and the airframe is no longer "model generic", so to speak.

Now there are some articles speculating that the NW/DL merger is doomed to fail in one way or another, so this might be a moot point anyway. But, I would personally like to see a few 787-851's flying around, instead of just all 787-832's  Big grin

Well, the merger is far from final anyway. NW's 87's are still 851's and that probably won't change; even with the delays i think the planes will be delivered before NW becomes DL. Also, you're right, all parts of the airplane are built and delivered so even though it's not ready to fly, it's still an -851 airplane in the end...

I have a feeling Boeing is waiting to see what becomes of this merger before doing any large-scale customization (Paint Scheme, etc). If the merger goes through, the bird will probably be delivered in DL colors.

That has nothing to do with the actual model number of the plane though. CO had ordered 763's which were never delivered. So now there are a few 767-324/ER's floating around - DL has one or two of them.

So my question is, even if delivered in DL paint, will these 787's be 787-851's and not 787-832's??
